After reading many posts here,I have a few questions on safely shooting there revolvers. I was looking at a .38 double action tagged as a 3rd model.Lock up is tight and is in pretty good shape. Is this model a black powder cartride model? If so, does anyone reload blackpowder .38 smith and wesson? Is $150 a good price? Thanks in advance to my rather long post.

I would say $150 is a good price. I paid $100 for mine a couple years ago, but it's been re-nickeled. Yes, .38 S&W was originally a black powder load. The current Remington, Winchester, and various cowboy action loads are VERY light and safe to shoot in a Smith & Wesson that's in good shape. I shoot my single and double actions with factory loads and light reloads with no ill effects.

FYI, the 3rd Model .38 DA was made from about 1883-1895. (Smokeless powder wasn't really available before 1893)
