I was wondering if anyone out there has ever shot PPC with a 686 plus. I guess my question really is: Does the seven shot capability cause any problems when the course is really designed around 6 shot revolvers? I have a 686 plus with 6 inch barrel, and 3 speed loaders for it. Thanks !

Yes, in my view it will be a problem! Since you have to leave one empty hole in the speed-loader it might not work as smooth as it should. Then you have to make sure the empty chamber is at the top position. You will have a lot less time to aim and shoot.

Hi Doug, Espen is right , as long as you load only 6 rounds at a time you wont violate any rules but,you would lose alot of time indexing your cylinder properly each time.Im not sure if they make loading trays for 7 shot loaders or not.It would less alot less frustrating to find yourself a used 6 shot 6 inch, alot of guys sell their whole shooting set up ,look on some of the PPC forum, each state probably has one and see what you find, good luck, email me if I can help you at all, Bob

You might check with S&W about having a 6-shot cylinder fitted to your gun. From what I understand they use the same hand on both guns so it might be possible to have both cylinders fitted to the same gun.

Thanks guys, that was what I was thinking too. I just wanted to ask around here since there is a lot of knowledge on this forum. One more question: Being that a 6 shot 586 or 686 is still my first choice, would you guys recommend a 4 inch or 6 inch barrel?

If you are going to shoot PPC, buy the 6 incher. The extra sight radius helps, as does the extra barrel weight (for most people).
