Short night

Since my retirement a few years ago I am usually up at 4 am and
often asleep at 4 pm. Days are actually 24 hrs long when you don't
have to structure your life around a work schedule. I'm starting to get
a bad attitude though. After 42.5 years of working full time and now
retired for a few years I find myself resenting the idea that I have to
be anywhere at a particular time. Not good when you have things
like dentist appointments that you cannot be late for. Gotta work on
my attitude.

I get up at 4 AM so I can work out before work

Yes. I've developed a bad habit of waking up close to three AM, no matter what time I go to sleep, & moving into the living room. I get online, check the Forum, & then I turn on the TV to try & bore myself back to sleep. Its such a habit that I can figure out how much sleep I got by the TV shows I remember seeing. I've tried just staying in bed hoping to go back to sleep, but I get bored. I can't figure out why this is happening. Maybe it happened once or twice & I kept doing it & it became a habit. Sure wish I could correct it!

If I'm up at 0400 it's to tap a kidney. There is no other valid reason, for me, since I'm no longer able to hunt and get into the woods before first light.

I worked for 55 years or so, and retired for medical reasons five years ago. It's helpful to me to keep regular hours--in bed at one AM and up at eight thirty--but I understand why a lot of folks don't want to bother with it.

Flying across the ocean. Got in at 8am , now catching up before putting my sleep mask on.

I'm always up at 4:00 a.m. In fact, I'm pretty much always up at 3:00 a.m., and sometimes 2:00. Doesn't matter if I go to sleep at 7:00 pm or midnight. Sometime between 2:00 and 3:00 the eyes spring open. I think of it as falling awake.

I just got over a bout of waking up at that time for no reason. You have my sympathies Sir.

If I'm ever awake at that time it's because:

1) A police helicopter has woken me

or

2) Somebody who does not know better thought that I needed to be somewhere early. They usually don't do that twice. I am NOT a morning person.

Because my dog snores.

For years I would have ROFL on that one, but in the last few months my old, apparently useless, half crippled, fat and nearly blind beagle has started snoring so loudly that napping in the same room is difficult.

This morning (most mornings) it was my back. Sometimes one of the cats decides she needs food. Sometimes Pooch's internal clock goes haywire and she hinks its time to play. Sometimes Missy decides there is mortal danger in the back yard.
