Well I just completed the 4-day defensive handgun course at the Front Sight training institute in Las Vegas with my M&P on my hip and it performed perfectly. No hickups, no jams, no problems. The ability to slam the mag in to make the slide close was a huge time saver during the emergency reload and the malfunction drills. It made the guys shooting XP's in the lanes next to me quite jealous.

Sounds like fun and I need to search one out in MI.
Is the slide closing a design feature or something that just happens with M&Ps when a loaded mag is banged in there?

It's not brand specific. I've had it happen most in Glocks, even a 1911 now and then.

That slide slamming forward just happens. With enough upward force you disengage the slide stop. Happens with any semi auto
