A few months ago, I bought a very nice, 5", Model 27-2, in the presentation case, with all the tools and papers. It had been fired, but still looked like new to me. Yesterday I took it to the range for the first time. According to the story I was told the previous owner had been a well known local gunsmith who only fired wadcutters through it (reminded me of the "little old lady who only drove it on Sunday" story).

I'm not going to bore you with details. The range only has a seven yard pistol range, so naturally it shot the center out of the target with 158 gr lead, RNFP, reloads. What I'm going to brag on is the trigger. If the gun did indeed belong to the old boy who's name was mentioned, he must have done some of his best work on this gun. Man this thing has a sweet trigger. I don't know, maybe it came from the factory this way, I understand Model 27's were some of S&W's best work, but I was impressed.

I've always said I didn't know the difference between a good trigger and a bad one. I do now.

Congratulations and when you get a great trigger the others just don't measure up anymore because they spoil you. My first custom Colt Government 45 taught me that as no SA trigger has ever come close again.

Very nice model 27! I now have 3 N frames and all 3 have triggers that are very smooth and light. They make my J and K frame revolvers feel really heavy. I don't know if it's the N frame magic or your specific gun. Do you have other N frames that aren't as nice?
Mike

Cajun, nice 27, maybe someday, I will have 1. I do have a 28 no dash, 6 incher. No expert here, but it has a nice trigger! I got a 586 no dash a few weeks ago, and the trigger is super smooth on that! So many Smiths out there calling my name! Enjoy your 27! Bob

Nice, I have a 27-2 with a 5 inch barrel and it has a really sweet trigger pull both single and double action.

Glad you like it!! If its anything like my 28-2, it is one of the sweetest triggers around.

That's kinda hard for me to say Mike. I've got several others, and they all have what I think of as "good" triggers, but I've never shot them side by side. This one just JUMPED out at me.

I'd dry fired it a bit, so I knew it was good, but dry fire and live fire just don't seem the same to me. I guess I know one "for real" and the other isn't.

beautiful, and just like that other forum, have to ask, were you shooting at Jefferson gun outlet?

I only ask because I live in Metairie and would love to have another wheelgun fan to meet up with to shoot locally.

What a coincedence Bass Man. My 27-2 5'' came from Clark Bros in Va. l won it on a GB auction. ln the presentation case. No papers or rod. Gun is almost new. Sadly the liner is cracked near grip base. 5'' liners are nearly impossible to find.
Spent my tax refund on it. lt cost the kid getting her ears pierced. We all have to make sacrifices in hard times

You sir have just bought THE finest revolver Smith & Wesson ever made. Enjoy! I have enjoyed mine for nearly forty years now. They do have an exceptional trigger. Perhaps the best but that is subjective.

I like Clark Brothers. I don't buy a lot of guns there, I tend to buy them from Greentops in Richmond, but Clark Brothers has a really nice range, so I buy ammo and reloading components from them. They do have a pretty good selection of guns though, and lately I've been seeing more and more nice S&W's in there.

If you're ever in the area, the place is like a museum, and well worth a stop just to visit and look around. Think "old timey gun store" and you're thinking Clark Brothers.

I'm sorry for your daughters ears, but remind her she can get them pierced anytime, but nice revolvers don't turn up every day. :D
