Put about 150 rounds threw it. This is my first AR and I have to say I really enjoy the platform so far! Unfortunately it took us about 100 rounds to site my rifle in (I know that sounds like a lot) we were struggling without any magnification to see the target. I went with my girlfriends brother and he was a dumb dumb and forgot to bring his binoculars. Thankfully he had scoped rifle with him. It only took us 50 rounds or so before we decided to use it to see the targets  We weren't the brightest bulbs in the chandelier that day!

Quick question and this is probably a very common one. Is there anyway to get rid of the kind of springy type recoil or recoil noise the rifle makes when firing?

I put whats called a "twang buster" in both of mine, it helped but doesnt completely alleviate the noise. You can do a bing search and see them.

It's the nature of the beast. I've never noticed it with my OR, but now that you've mentioned it I'll for certain hear it next time out. :) Liike Grover mentioned, there are replacement springs that, supposedly, reduce the sound, and I've read that a bit of grease in the buffer tube might help.

You are wearing ear protection, right?

Wipe some moly grease on the spring. That should take care of the twang.

Next time you have to sight in a rifle get close to the target for your first rounds. I try one shot at 25 yards first and work my way back out. If the first shot doesn't hit paper at 25 yards, I get closer. Even 1 shot a 10 yards offhand is better than not knowing where it hits.

If your range is set up such that you can't get close, buy a bore sighter. It will easily pay for itself in ammo costs.
