Well, the 4" M&P .45 is basically G19 size, if you want the size and a caliber "upgrade." Otherwise, you might have to wait a while for the other.

I think the sales of the shield, compact, and full sized M&P series don't really warrant releasing a G19 sized M&P pistol very soon. I own a G19, G27, and M&P 9c (wife's pistol). Between the three, the G19 is certainly the best size to get a full grip without having to resort to pinky or magazine extensions. It's also a very versatile pistol for use as an all around self defense pistol for the home or CCW. However, both the G27 and M&P 9c are much easier for me to carry concealed. The G19 is just slightly too big in grip height and slide length. Now, I have a (relatively) slim build, so if you're a bit bigger, or live in an area where heavier clothes are worn more often, the G19 would work just fine - if you can stand it's heavier weight.

At 6'2" and 200lbs I do not consider myself to be slim or heavy, but find that the Glock 19/23 is as comfortable to conceal carry as my G27 or Shield and certainly much more comfortable than either my G22 or M&P FS. If S&W were to introduce a Glock 19/23 size M&P I would acquire one in a New York minute and I'm a Glock fan.

Funny how nitpicky some can be when handguns are only a 1/4 inch different . A do see and feel a big difference between a thinner , lighter single stack shield and a g26 or 27 but between a glock 19 and a 4.25" m&p is nitpicking . If you like the size and feel of a glock so much why do you have a m&p , go buy and carry a gluck .

G19 is probably one of the most popular pistols on the market. So there is really no need to change that pistol because it will always sell just the way it is.

There are many things I like about the Glock design, I just cannot understand why they insist on putting those damned finger grooves on the grip, especially the top one, I would say I have average sized hands and my middle finger doesn't even come close to fitting in this area, thus Glock knuckle. If Glock at least got rid of that top groove I would buy a 19, but they don't so I go with S&W among others.

Will there be a Glock 19 sized M&P in 9mm? Or no?

Yes!! It will be similar in size to the M&P22 compact (somewhere between that and a full size). A new and improved trigger will rival the Sig P320 and even the PPQ. Apex is designing it with the S&W Performance Center. It's going to be sporting a new grip texture that's better than the Glock Gen4's (close to the FNS series of pistol). It will also have the choice between no safety, regular manual safety, or Shield-style low profile safety. It's also going to have polygonal rifling which is quite a departure for Smith & Wesson. Most importantly, it's going to shoot flatter and weigh less than the Glock 19 and carry 16+1 rounds! Lastly, I'm kidding.

I carried a G23 off and on for almost 20 years. Mostly off. For me, it was too thick/wide. Length and height were far secondary considerations, but for me they are issues too. I was never comfortable that my concealed carry piece was in fact very concealed.

If I wanted something larger to CC than my Shield, which I don't because it is practically perfect in every way, the M&P Compacts are a viable option.

My old G23? I traded it for my Pro Series since, after getting my Shielld, I had no further need of that "belt brick." If you are geting a gun as large as the 19/23 you might as well enjoy the benefits of a full size service pistol.

Me Too

There's always the Sig P320 Compact. Love mine.

I guess I don't "love" pistols but I too have a Sig P320 Compact and "love" comes close. Sig Sauer got it perfect right out of the gate. That said, my EDC is a Shield9.
I pack my P320 (OWB) when out in my desert. Both the P320 and both my shields (Both 9mm and no manual safety) seam like really well designed and high quality. Did I say, reliable and accurate? You bet.
Stay safe.
