Starting from scratch.

No, I’m all for the right revolver. Really don’t like the price of 38/.357 ammo though. I’ve learned to accept the fact that this is just the world we live in now. I thought my S&W 940 was the answer to all of my questions but I experienced sticky extraction issues.

Any idea why they are sticking? Rough chambers? Dirty ammo?

Well, the hunt was is on. Sold the LPC Max, the Sig P365 is up for sale and my son is purchasing my Hi Power. Decided that with hand issues, racking a heavy slide just isn’t in the cards for me. I should have the cash to buy whatever I want. Looking to get a primary carry and something that could be pocket carried .

Primary carry options right now are Glock G43X, S&W Shield EZ-9, H&K CC9, and 3 inch K frame.

Pocket carry options are S&W 640/649 or Glock G42/G43.

I’m a big fan of the Shield Plus with over 7k rounds downrange in nearly four years of ownership. I consider it a a good compromise between a too small (for my big hands) pocket gun and something larger that approaches duty size. The trigger is excellent, recoil not bad even with HST 124gr +P, and the grip is comfortable when using Talon rubber decal grips. Plenty of capacity with a flush fit 10 rounder, a 13 rounder for a full grip, and even a 15 rounder should you feel the need.

The Ruger LCP Max is a great gun but the ergonomics are just a little off for me. And the Sig P365 is a little snappy. So, I’m dumping them both and starting over. Looking for a new primary concealed carry option and a new pocket pistol option.

At the top of the list is the Glock G43X and the S&W Shield Plus. One of these options would have come home with me tonight but Cabela’s won’t remove the trigger lock so that you can get a good feel for trigger reach. Their loss. Right now leaning more towards the Glock due to ergonomics. Shield Plus texture is pretty aggressive and I am afraid the narrower width will be more uncomfortable to shoot. I’m also considering the H&K CC9 but the price may edge it out of the competition.

In terms of pocket pistols I’m looking at a Glock G42. I already have a holster for it. I wasn’t overly fond of the ergonomics on the Bodyguard 2.0. Other options would be a S&W 640 or 649 in .38 Special. I’m not crazy about the price of .38 ammo but decided that it’s no use lamenting over how cheap.38 ammo used to be. I’m accepting it and moving on. Although I may get into small scale reloading.

Other options?

EDIT: Not only am I starting from scratch, I’m really going back to the basics. My primary carry will be my 4 inch model 10-5 pencil barrel. The 4 inch K frame was one of my first concealed carry handguns. It rides in an AKJ Concealco holster; now produced by Legion Leather.
HKP30, Beretta PX4, S&W 6904. All are available in 9mm. Great guns, reliable, durable.

A J-frame in .32 carries like a dream. It affords you six shots over a .38 and a .32 magnum has nearly comparable performance and it's also inherently accurate.
If it's a .32 magnum, you can also shoot 32 S&W longs/shorts for less recoil and target practice.
