I don’t participate in competitive shooting; however, it seems that a shot timer could be a good training tool and add fun to shooting falling plates, for example.

The PACT Club Timer III isn’t too expensive and has good reviews, but I don’t know which features are essential and which might be just nice to have.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

A shot timer is an excellent training tool, and takes a lot of guesswork out of tracking improvement and consistency in shooting skills when shooting defined drills.

I have a Comp Electronics ProTimer BT, which IIRC was about the same price as the available PACT when I bought it, but things may have changed.

For an individual training tool, the features you'll want most are a random delay start beeper, and the ability to show splits through a string of fire. I wouldn't be worried too much about multiple strings or huge numbers of shots in memory.

Both the PACT and Comp Electronics are good quality... I'd probably stay away from the 'newcomers' on Amazon... ;)

I've had this one for years and it's still working fine. It's had lots of use, too. Great training aid when shooting alone or with others.
