the biggest scam here in Southern Oregon are e-mails impersonating folks like club Presidents, or other club officers, stating they are so busy, so would you please go buy a couple of gift cards for 25 to 50 bucks each to be given to specific club members at the next meeting; oh, by the way, just leave them for pick up.... they know the names of the club officers and members as well. Double checking with the club officers is the only cure! Also, my wife got an e-mail from "Elon Musk/Tesla" saying she had won a new Tesla and ten grand; just fill out the attached questionnaire.... a scam a minute, it seems.
 
I get several of those a week . They threaten all sorts of terrible things if I don't pay . I live in Louisiana and the last toll booth I went through was on the Turnpike in Pennsylvania about 25 yrs ago . And it was a rental car .

I'd like to get that one, "your cloud storage is full." The problem is that Apple doesn't send out a comparable note when it is actually full and doesn't add data once the paid for limit is reached. You can ask me how I know but I bet you can guess. If you use cloud storage, which works great, check occasionally to see if you're approaching the limits of whatever level you have purchases.

Whats really stupid is if you get a spam email for Toll or some Govt type, the email is from a Gmail or Yahoo or something, What not the . Gov??
 
Got a call (from a local name and number) the other day. The guy started in with medical supplies and all. He didn't sound like he was "from around here" so I asked him if they still "did" goats over there -- click.
 
About three years ago, I received quite a few phone calls from phony bill collectors. They were mostly from women and I actually looked forward to conversing with them about this and that regarding anatomical organs. Our discussions didn’t usually last very long. I recently read that about 80% of adult Americans now have some if not most of their personal information listed somewhere on the Dark Web. And there is nothing you can do about that. That is why I keep fraud alerts current on the credit reporting services and use callback confirmation for accessing all of my online brokerage and banking accounts, as it’s a given that every fraudster and scammer on Earth already knows at least my telephone number, email address, home address, credit card numbers, birthday, and SSN. And I always read my bank and credit card statements carefully for strange transactions. And I occasionally find some. I notice that for in-person bank transactions involving funds withdrawal, my local bank is now requiring two forms of photo identification. I wish it was more.

The problem with scams is that no authority will take the necessary action to punish this scum.
Last year my wife found a charge for an airline flight on our CC statement.
Called the CC company to dispute the charge. They called back the next day and agreed it wasn’t our charge and credited our card.
When I asked what they were going to do to the scammer, they said it would cost more to go after them than it was worth so they wouldn’t pursue it.
So whoever this was had to show an ID which would have been verified to buy the ticket. So they have the info to arrest the scum and no one does it?
I’m still scratching my head.
 
While waiting on a Fedex delivery a man knocked on our picture window and peered inside. I went outside he immediately started discussing moss removal on our roof. This is a two story house the roof surface isn't visible from the surface anywhere around our house. Next thing I knew he had two buddies and one of them was propping up a ladder to go up on our roof. I did a cease and desist (get off our property) then on the third such statement I told them they are now trespassing. At that juncture they backed down. I also alerted local PD and did a title search on our property to see if any liens had been attached. Thankfully none had.
 
When I get a scam caller I answer the phone with: Hello, Federal Bureau of Investigation, agent Hill speaking, how may I direct your call? You would be surprised how fast they hang up. Then I block the number!
 
I got a phone call one evening telling me that I had won a huge Publishers Clearing House prize consisting of a Ford Pickup and a large sum of money . He said the truck was coming from a local dealer that evening and I would need to pay the driver for the registration , etc. They wanted me to have prepaid VISA cards available for when the truck arrived . This conversation went on for at least an hour and finally I told the guy that this thing sounded like a scam . He hung up on me . I figure that was an hour he wasn't trying to scam somebody else .
 
I don’t know if this will help anyone but the house landline has a super long message. At the so called end, it goes on to repeat it again. Most, and probably all scammers hang up. Drs. Rx messages etc usually are robo call so we get those messages. If we are curious we look and if its a friendly we will answer.

There are only 2 places in the state that charge tolls and both of them are bridges I have never been on, as a passenger, driver or even pedestrian. I haven't even driven past them in almost 2 decades. Also, I haven't left the state in 5 years, and never went on a toll road then. I have never driven on a toll road in my life. My license plate is on my car which I bought in December. The plate is new, assigned after the sale by the DMV. I received it in late February. Since then, I have been no more than 8 miles from my house and my car has been with me the whole time. Plus, it's a good car. It wouldn't sneak out and travel on toll roads by itself late at night. That's not how it was raised.:D
There was a link to "take care of" it, but I just reported as spam and blocked the number. I love it when they're this easy to spot.

I got 3 or 4 of the toll road text scams during the last month. I just ignore them and report as spamscam. Most of the time I just keep my phone set to only accept calls from people in my contact list. Any call from not in my contacts list is immediately sent to voice mail. If it is a legit call and not spam the caller will leave a message
