I posted this on the M&P thread and wanted the opinion of this group. Any input would be appreciated.

I would like some feed back to what I am considering. I have a Kahr CW45 and a M&P 45 FS. I use the M&P as a range and house gun and the Kahr as a concealed carry. I am thinking I would trade both in for a S&W 1911E to serve both requirements. I also have a Bodyguard .380 for those times when the Kahr is just too large.
I would appreciate any help and information and keeping all three right now is just not in the cards. Thanks in advance.
Best, Frank.

Can't help you with your potential new gun, but personally I'd rather have 2 guns around. A second, (or third, or forth) gun gives you firearm coverage in more than one place at any time. I guess it would depend on who else was in the house with you etc. Maybe it's just me 'cause I like shooting a number of guns, but I've got firearms available for HD, all over the house.

I wouldn't trade them both off. You have two guns now and two is better than one. And personally I would rather have either of those for carry than what you would be getting.

If I let one of those two guns go it would be the Kahr because the M&P .45 is a much better gun (IMHO). Use the money for the Kahr and save up to by the 1911. I've got the S&W 1911 on my radar too but will have to wait for my next bonus in March. :(

Good luck!!

The new 1911 by S&W is a great gun, but are you totally familiar with a 1911? The operation of a 1911 is different than the M&P, and it takes practice to carry it cocked & locked and effectively draw and utilize it. Make sure you are practiced well before relying on it.

Are you seeing what you're doing? You get rid of the Kahr you're basically left carrying the .380 a whole lot. You're not going to be ahead here.
