Should I get new grips on Model 36?

OP- I agree about the silliness of filling the space behind the trigger guard. I want my finger in that location and it's the reason why my duty j-frames have either stock Magna or Altamont panel grips. Boot grips are worthless IMHO. It's also why I dislike the Ruger LCR platform.

Yes it would seem that having a grip high like that would give a better hold on the gun, as opposed to just holding onto a handle that is sticking out of it at a 90% angle.

2 words: Pachmayr Compac

or 3 words: Pachmayr Compac Pro - if max conceal-ability is important.

They may not look as good as wood, but they will give you a much better purchase on your gun.

I just ordered Pachmayr gripper grips. Many people on the Amazon reviews said that the Compacs don't work with speedloaders, and they said that the grippers do. And I thought Pachmayr would be easier to install than Hogue, because for Hogue it seems you have to punch out that pin at the bottom of the grip.

Jimmy cannot hit a barn using a "J" frame 2" with magna grips. I install Pachamer "Gripper" style grips and then I can hit a barn standing inside with the barn doors closed.

I just ordered a set of gripper grips so hopefully I too will be able to achieve that level of marksmanship.

You didn't mention the range at which you get "pizza pan" groups but a 12" spread at 20 yards still puts everything inside the 7 ring on a B27

That's because I'm embarrassed to say, but I will tell you it was a lot less than 20 yards
:(
But I will also add that with my other guns, like S&W 19 or Glock, and even a new Colt Cobra, I am able to shoot ragged little holes in a paper ...
So this particular gun is just harder to shoot, I guess...

Wow thanks so much, everyone's replies have been very helpful. This forum is fantastic. I wish the white text on black background didn't hurt my eyes so much...

I saw a marked improvement when I exchanged the factory grips with Altamont boot grips. These boot grips also do not enlarge the profile of the revolver.
