At the local gun shop today, I saw two S&Ws that came in as part of an estate on Saturday. Both are in mint condition and appear practically unfired. Both have the large S&W target grips. The model 19 seems to have a wider hammer spur and a lined trigger, both of which are case color hardened. The model 66 hase a hammer spur a bit more narrow, and the trigger is smooth.

Model 66-2.....$449.00 +tax. ($480)
Model 19-4.....$439.00 +tax. ($469)

BTW, I cannot afford either right now, but with a little creative financing as in, I eat cat food for about six months, I think I could swing at least one of them. The bluing on the 19-4 is perfect. I didn't ask about boxes and papers.

I would hate to have to choose between these two. I have owned both in the past but now only have a model 65. You could not go wrong with either. Do you love blue guns or do you want the easier to maintain stainless? You're the one to decide. Hard choice to make. Good luck.

Well deandog, here's the thing. I love the easy maintainance of stainless. I have 5 stainless revos (not counting any SAA guns), and only 3 blued. That model 19-4 is in about the best condition I have ever seen. Thing is, I plan on shooting the crap out of it! That's what I do with guns. I know there are lots of folks that just collect them, but I do not own anything that I have not shot. Granted, some get a whole lot more TLC!

That 19-4 sure was perty!

Then, there is the fact that I want another .357 shooter that dosen't mind getting punished with some stout loads on occasion. Therefore, I was sorta saving my pennies for a 6" 586 or 686. I really do prefer the L-Frame for full house .357 action!

I just thought I would run this by all the resident experts here to see if the above described guns were the deal of the century, or close to it. Both guns are in pristine condition.

There is a model 29-2 in the same collection, and in the same great condition, but I already have one, and they are asking $669 for that one. Not a bad deal, but not something I would jump all over. I paid less for my 29-3 and it is in as good of shape as this 29-2.

Wow, I am really running off at the fingers tonight! Must be the smell of a new gun in the air!

Offer $850.00 out the door for both and get some crackers with that cat food.

Offer the guy 750 for the pair and start from there!
Both I think ok, But not count pennies good.

You CAN afford both!

The cat food plan is a start. Here's the rest.

Your wifes tires & brakes aren't THAT bad.

The kids don't need dental work, just less sugar

Stop supporting your inlaws, you'll never be repaid the other $$ anyway.

Clip coupons.

Establish "Rommian Noodle Nite" every Wednesday & Friday.

Scrap the cell phones.

The roof only leaks when it rains.

The last time a pet was talking to someone about guns, I believe it involved a .44! But that was a dog. "Son of Tabby" just doesn't sound all that menacing!

Actually, I am looking at a possible FTF on another 4" model 66 Wednesday. If I can get that guy down to $400 out the door, I may have to stick with stainless. This guy is also selling a model 14 8 3/8". I have no idea what he is asking, but it sounds like it would be a fun gun to own.

I am willing to bet both of the gunshop guns will be gone by Wednesday. There is a blued 586 6" that is still out there somewhere calling me!

I really need to hit the lottery or something!

I honestly dont think either is catfood eatin good prices.. Possibly if they were 3" or shorter, but not 4".. (But if they're your dream guns, and you dont see many like them where you shop, by all means go get em! You only live once, and whatever extra money you may spend you wont even notice in a little while.)
