i own a marlin 336 lever 30-30 ....i like it but i always think about selling it....what im asking is opinions to sell or to keep it. i bought it for bear hunting and it only comes out of safe for that reason. i think its too expensive to shoot for me anyway and i just cant justify keeping it if i only use it a couple times a year. by the way in my state i cant hunt anything other than bear with a rifle ....what do you guys think

I have stuff in my safe I haven't shot in a long time. I still wouldn't sell it off just for that reason.

Well you say that you use it "a couple times a year" if you sell it what are you going to use then?

How often does one need to use a hunting rifle to justify it's use?? Hunting has seasons, so does everyone sell their guns on off season?

Unless you need the money why sell it?

If you didn't have it, what would you use for bear a couple times a year?

You said yourself you use it a couple of times a year, sounds like justification for keeping it. Every time I have sold one I end up replacing it(or trying to!) I haven't sold a gun in years

Don't sell it unless you really need the money. I guess all of us have some "excess" guns in the safe. I had a couple I had thought about selling, one because I never use it any more, and another because it just didn't fit in my carry rotation like I thought it would. I decided to keep them, that I would just throw away the money away if I sold. After a year or two, I had an unexpected expense ($1350 tractor repair) that I didn't need to handle out of my regular income. I sold the guns and paid the bill. Haven't had a regretful thought. Now, I just figure that those "excess" guns (I still have a few) are better than money in the bank.

Makes a good home defense weapon. Unless you are really hard up for cash, I would advise you to keep it.

Only you can decide if you want to leep it. Since you are in doubt, go ahead and sell it to someone who would appreciate it, then buy something you have no doubts about.

Before you get too serious about selling a Marlin, go to the Marlinownersforum.com and read the opinions and issues with the new Remington made guns. There is as much knowledge about Marlin firearms over there as there is Smith firearms over here.

I have a bunch of marlins and winchester lever action rifles. Marlin in 444 marlin, 3 in 30-30, one marlin getting setup as a truck gun. Winchesters in 30 30 about 4 and a win big boar in 375 win. Fun guns all.Frank
