Came across a 19-2, 4' barrel in great shape, appears to have the original grips, pinned & recessed. Bluing is in great shape with a turn line on the cylinder at my local sporting goods store.

He is selling it for $329.00, if I pay cash it would cost me $345.00 total tax free but including transfer fee.

Don't need it, not sure I would shoot it much because it is in such good shape, already have a 4" 586, 681, 65, and 15 to go along with my 625-2, and 17-6.

But I still want it!!!

Help!!

A 19-2 like that is on my really, really short list and at that price, I'd jump on it - I don't know about that 4 ft barrel tho!

if you don''t there is a line of folks here who will take care of it (myself included)...

A P&R gun in 85% condition will bring $450 all day long in my neck of the woods

Buy it...its just $$...and remember they are not making them like that anymore

The 4' barrel was for experimental rocket assisted 357 mag bullets for deer hunting!!!

In all seriousness I don't know if I could bring myself to shoot it very often, I hate to have another pistol just sitting in my safe!! If it was lesser shape I would have bought it already.

And yes, everyone of are enablers, there should be a forum on here for Smith & Wesson addicts such as me!!

I wasn't even looking for a Model 19, I am still trying to find a decent Model 66 with a 2 1/2 barrel to replace the one I sold like an idiot!

I just got back from putting the Model 19-2 on layaway! According to my SCOSW it was manufactured in 1965. When I finally get it I will post some pics. I hope all you enablers are happy now!

As I posted earlier I don't know if I can bring myself to shoot it! It is not pristine but it still looks pretyy good and I would hate to mar it's looks.

I understand and appreciate your feelings about not wanting to "mess up" a pristine model. However at that price I'd buy it and just keep it to look at it, especially since you do not have one. (I think the m19 is in the top 5 of the most beautiful S&W revolvers)

When you get tired of looking at it you can sell it for a profit to the rest of us, and fund your next acquisition.

Just last night I paid $400 for a 19-2 with a 6" barrel and I think I got a pretty good deal. I didn't need it, didn't even know I wanted it until I saw it sitting in the shop's display case. So I think you got a very good deal; congratulations. As to the shoot / no shoot question: do you really think that putting rounds through it at the range will alter its appearance very much?

I did in fact put some money down on the 19-2 and will be picking it up in a few weeks. In response to crofoot629 to selling off some of my revolvers to buy it the only one I would consider would be the 681. I bought it from the same place I am buying the 19-2, the person who had it previously had sent it to a gunsmith in Arizona where it had a trigger job done and it was refinished from it's original stainless steel finish to (for lack of a better word) black teflon finish. I could never find out the name of the gunsmith. If I remember correctly I paid $400.00 for the 681. But I am keeping the 586 no dash, 625-2, 65-3, and the 15-3 to keep my 17-6 and 2" 10-8 company. I don't want to break up the family!
