I am bone on bone in my left shoulder, and due to other issues would find positioning myself to accommodate a shoulder surgery/recovery not feasible. I will not take pain or muscle relaxing drugs. It has been 10 years or more since my last cortisone injection in that shoulder, and it didn't work. Has anything else come to the surface, an injection or what ever, that might be an alternative? Thanks for your help.

Had mine replaced +/- 15 years ago. Went from not being able to use the arm to good as new. Lots of therapy and rebuilding of muscles. To me, it was worth it.

Not aware of alternatives.

Good luck.

This cbd oil/lotion combo works for me. Both shoulders, hip and ankle are arthritic and this takes pain from a level 6/7 to a 2. Lesser, cheaper strengths do not work for me but this is effective in reducing pain. Does not make it disappear but does make it tolerable and I can do what I want to do. I do try to keep my want to right. ;)

Soak a piece of clean !00% flannel (large enough to cover target area) with Castor Oil. Slap it on. Cover with a piece of plastic wrap. Cover with a thin terry hand towel or face cloth. Top with heating pad as hot as comfortable.

Do this as much and as often as your lifestyle permits. Be patient. Talk to your pain. Tell it to go away.

When not in use, store your soaked flannel in the frig.

Advice for statin takers

I had significant pain in both shoulders a few years ago. MRIs showed torn cartilage, but it was not quite bone-on-bone. My doctor's physician assistant suggested that I stop taking my statin (Lipitor/atorvastatin). I'd been taking it for 15 years without an issue, but I stopped taking it nevertheless. The pain went away within two weeks. My cardiologist switched me to Crestor/rosuvastatin, and the pain has not returned.

So if you're taking a statin, ask your doctor if you can go off of it for a couple of weeks and see what happens. If the pain goes away, try another statin. Hopefully, you can avoid surgery altogether.

I don't know of anything that can help you but I do know the longer you wait before doing anything the worse its going to be.
Have you asked your surgeon if there's anything else that can be done?
