Show Us Pics of Your Single Shot Rifles

I have a pretty good stock of the usuals - Ruger No1, Winchester 1885 and Browning 78, Cooper Model 21 and some Sharps types. Also have this thing and I really don't know much about it. Other than being an Anschutz in 22 Hornet.

The stock looks factory and pretty typical for what I'm guessing is a 1970s made rifle. Skip line checkering, high cheek comb.

The action is a repeater type, but a metal block has been set into the stock. The metal block is bolted to the stock.

The stock was never a repeater, single shot all the way.

Anyone have an idea what this is? No model number or import mark anywhere.

A snub 458 No.1H.
The plan, back around '81, was to have a high quality
34" barrel made.
Only a Navy Arms would finish that long, and not of the
quality I wanted.
So, I cut it to 16.5", and figured someday a 34" would be
available.
Shoots nice as is, and maybe, in the future, it'll get a barrel
that looks like the custom No.1.
Pic from the web.
The Snub wears a 2.5x28mm Leupold or the irons.
Scope on now.
Have another No.1V in 223 Rem, 1:12, made in '04.
Triggers on both are great.

Have a Ben Sheridan single shot .177 pistol.
No tax stamp necessary, to make it into a rifle,
for the grandkids.

One more. A custom Ruger NO1 with a Douglas premium heavy barrel in .223. Has a Leupold fixed 18x scope with fine crosshairs and a micro dot in the center. Previous owner shot prairie dogs with it. Larry

I have a Ruger No. 1-B in 270 Winchester, a No. 1-A in .30-30 (1 of 248), and this:

Sorry - I don't have a good photo of the 1870 Rolling Block by itself. It's chambered in 50-70 and have the acceptance proof from the US Navy. I guess the 18th Century flintlock qualifies as a single shot too though.

One of my favorites. A German zimmerstutzen, firing a 4mm RF cartridge sufficiently powerful to penetrate a paper target at 10 meters. The most power you want in a beer parlor. It is the same gun photographed in Alte Scheibenwaffen, v.3, page 60.
My second favorite is probably a Winchester .22 high wall take-down musket.

Strawhat, we have a chipmunk problem. Figured if he was hitting prairie dogs at 100-250 yards, it would meet the requirements of the accuracy I would want. My only question to him was if the barrel was shot out.

Lots of nice guns here, it seems I am starting to admire German rifles lately. That 4mm rimfire is way toooo cool, Larry

There are a lot of nice single shot rifles in this thread. I was a little reluctant to post mine. I am a Winchester .22 nut and have quite a few. I have at least one example of every .22 single shot Winchester produced. Not all variations though. Here are a few, starting with the 1900 series. The 1900 was the only one designed by John Browning, the rest were different applications of the 1900 patent.
This picture shows the 1900, two 1902s, a Thumbtrigger model99, two 1904s and a 58.

I had a Anschutz 54 in 22 Hornet from around 2002. It was one of five in the US in this configuration. Repeater, detachable magazine, AAA wood, Stainless bull barrel. Since German laws require all centerfire rifles to have an excessive free bore, it shot 1/2 to 3/4 inch at 100 yards. I sold it around 2011 or 2012. There are few prettier, but many better shooting! (CZ, Savage 340, H&R 219, and T/C come to mind!)

I also have a Remington #1 roller 50-70, the three band version issued to the New York State Militia. Don't know how I missed it in my earlier post.
Interesting enough, both it and my 1888 trapdoor are stamped with markings showing them to have been used by the 65th regiment of that state, based in the Buffalo area.

I was a hunter all my life, mainly deer, elk and antelope, with a heathy amount of prairie dogs and coyotes. I could spend the rest of my hunting career with a single shot and looking back on all my big game, I could have taken probably 90% with a single shot if not more. While I like single shot shotguns, nothing is more satisfy than a nice double on winged prey, so a double is king.
