Here's Pilgrim. She showed up on our front porch one Thanksgiving morning, about three weeks old and in rough shape.

Don't let the face fool you ! She's got a wild streak that is downright scary at times.

Funny this should come up.
A couple days ago, my wife noticed a kitten following around Neeka, our oldest (and usually cat, skunk, rooster, and coyote-killing) black lab as if Neeka was his mama.

About 9-10 weeks old and the most emaciated cat I've ever laid eyes on. I mean days away from death from starvation and dehydration. His spine and ribs were visible. (just assuming it's a "he".)

So now our 3 black labs and german shepherd have a new sibling named, "Wilbur". Lovinest li'l critter you could imagine. Purrs loud as a Briggs and Stratton.

Lucy, another lab of ours, has adopted the kitten, washing her after she leaves the litter box and, albeit politely, not letting the other dogs near it. There'll be pics once the missus figgers out her new camera software.

Mick, 17 pounds of fun.

Here he is daring the 70 pound dog to come get her bed back:

He costs me a lot of money in scratching posts, but at least he doesn't scratch the furniture:

Lord of all he surveys, at least in his mind.

Here's "Dino". My wife brought him home, someone she worked with had him and could no longer keep him. He was supposed to be her cat but he had other ideas. He won me over and became my buddy.

Checking out a young groundhog that came up to the patio door.

Siblings

Here's Buddy and Nellie. We got the pair of them so they could stay together (they're brother & sister) but in truth, they barely tolerate each other.

That face does not fool me one bit. Dat girl got crazy goin' on.;) My aunt had one that would get a certain look, usually late at night, and after that all bets were off as to what she would do. One odd thing, if you dropped a newspaper over her she would freeze. My sister-in-law calls it the zoomies.

A reprise of the Foreclosure Cat. I took him to the vet today and he has no microchip. They have taken him into their adoption program.

here is "cat". he doesn't answer to anything except food being poured into his bowl or the sound of a window opening so he can survey his kingdom. this is his normal "on alert" position. lee

Here's Bob just before he's about to tear me a new one! He's my bud. If I'm home he's gotta know where I'm at!

Cats can andn will still perform their designated work. My parents live in a house in the country. They lived about a decade without a cat and in the winter mice ran all over the house. A few years ago a feral cat settled in with my parents and the mice have been gone since.

On my suggestion my parents got a Ragdoll cat when their Himalayans passed on. I always thought they kept the house pretty clean, but the cat hadn't been in their home long when he caught a mouse. When they found out about the mouse the cat had worn it out.

Ragdolls are really laid back cats.
