Patrick Grashorn (Executioner here on the S&W Forum) of Grashorn Gunworks makes some of the nicest Elk Stags you're going to find. Many of my guns wear them and I stock them in my shop.

What, if anything can you tell me about the stags in the lower left? Would you per chance have a pic of the left side? Yours are the same yellow to cream color and pattern of the bark is similar with the same shade of light/dull brown as the ones on my model 1917.

The butt on yours doesn't look quite flush. I speculated that possibly mine were flush or close at one time, yet now are 30-45 degree angle. In fact my bevel covers right at .5". I couldn't understand why and thought maybe they ran out of room or early on the grips were chipped and then beveled to hide the damage. It is obvious that mine were cut by hand as they are close, but nowhere near identical.

Mine are more of a light cream on the back strap along with the front strap of the grip frame side of the left grip. I believe this lighter color is a wear pattern and the front of the left grip is from a small mitted, right handed shooter. Where it isn't worn it gives the yellow-brown look reminiscent of nicotine stain.

Then again maybe my imagination is reading too much into this tale...

Love my one pair of stags and have a question for those more knowledgeable. On older stags was it the norm for them to be swelled in the center like cokes?

My right side has a good 1/8" space on the top & bottom from a pencil laid on the center running top to butt, yet the left side is pushing 1/4".

I'm no southpaw, but it sure does fill my left hand and feel better than when I hold it right handed due to the pronounced swell.
