I got a couple of flannel shirts for Christmas with a "George" label. The size Large fit perfectly when new. After one washing (warm water) and a spin in the dryer, the sleeves are above my wrists and the shirt tails are so short that they won't stay in my pants.

What's a good quality name brand shrink-free flannel shirt?

the engineer, above, says buy the tall size. i would, if they would offer small or medium tall sizes.

Buy the TALL size, and dry in the dryer. Perfect no more shrink fit after 2 dryings.
Doesn't work when you are tall to begin with and not many sell extra tall. Wash in warm water, cold rinse, hang to dry. Let the drier feel lonely.

EDIT: Some driers do have a low heat/air dry setting that might work OK.

My daughter bought me a few Five Brothers heavy flannel shirts and they are worth a look. I only put them in the dryer to fluff them up after they dry on a hanger. She bought them at the Orscheln farm store. I'm sure other retailers sell them.

I am the XXXL size they do not make XXXXLL size. No drier for mine.
Says who???

Yes, I'll also vouch for the LL Bean. I loved their chamois shirts. If possible I always go for the extra long in XXL. I've dropped from 250# to 225, then more recently I see I'm down to 200-205#. I might order a single XL just to see, but if possible I still go extra long or Tall. They seem to cover up any ugly (Tradesmen) cracks, and/or anything I don't need people seeing. Now, I just got a hockey jersey for Christmas in XXL, but the hockey jerseys are usually sized larger. My wife took it to her dry cleaner shop where she works and they took the sleeves up about two inches. I have room to layer underneath it comfortably.
I need to get online with LL Bean and see what I need. They're built to last much like the Carharts.

Shrinking Also Happens In Dark Closets Here In KY

My shirts were put in the Dark Closet at end of last winter.

Over the Summer they SHRANK at least two sizes.

SWMBO has a different theory about how to explain this shrinkage.

Bekeart
I've had that problem since Covid came on the scene. I think it's a side effect the CDC hasn't published yet.
Then again, it might be non-Covid related and just another manifestation of dark closets like the famous two wire coat hanger syndrome, where two wire coat hangers in a dark closet become 50 or more over a year, and when you open the closet, the things are all tangled up, still trying to mate and make more.

For things we don't want to shrink . Hang to dry , then about 5 minutes in the dryer to remove the wrinkles .

I have a couple sources in addition to L L Bean which my sister gives me. A few years ago I bought a couple of Faded Glory flannel shirts from Walmart. I might be 5 or 6 pounds lighter now than when I bought them but I'm still wearing them.

I have one flannel shirt that has probably been around forever. The brand name is Chaps, which I believe is the house brand for Kohl's Department Stores. It was my dad's shirt. I don't know when he bought that shirt, but I inherited it 6 years ago after Pop died and I've been wearing it ever since.
