Side plate screws

Do any of you ever feel the need to use blue Loctite on the side plate screws of your 500 magnums? I have one screw that continually works loose, and that's only when dry-firing! I haven't shot it yet. I'm waiting on a fire-lapping kit. When I get the kit I'll fire lap the barrel and see if the screw just works itself free under real recoil.

I would not use blue on those smaller screws. It's made for 1/4" and up screw sizes. What you want is the purple 222 for micro screws. We use them on our radio control aircraft and fire arm parts, like screws and revolver ejector rods. Holds everything great and breaks easier than blue 244. Hard to find and pricey, but can be ordered from McMaster or Fastenal. The .34 oz that I bought 5 years ago is still almost full and will last a long time. It's worth it.

What you want is the purple 222
