I have had a Sig P229 since they first came out. Traded the first one for something I thought I had to have. The second one got stolen. I have had the third one now for about 14-15 years. Old style (no flippin rail). The sights are dead but I dont see that as an issue. I have a 357 Sig barrel to go with everything.
Gun runs great, and ]is beyond accurate. I am just wondering if there are any performance mods that actually improve on this gun as opposed to being hype to waste money on?
FWIW IMHO there is no finer go anywhere do anything gun.
I get it. the 229 is still a 29?
I am a big fan of the 357SIG cartridge and the pistol designed to go with it, the P229.
All my P229s are 357SIG
I received my first one in the mid 90s and have added several more since.
I am NOT a fan of rails or the reverse hooked trigger guard that comes with them.
The more compact P228/P229 firearms were originally intended for better concealability. I have several of the more unusual variants like this Satin Nickel
I have all of the steel frame variants what were made without a rail
I have one of each of the Equinox variants just because the rail version came out before I knew there would be any non-rails
There is nothing you can do to them that will improve the performance. Some folks swear by the Short Reset Trigger, I doubt that more than 10% of the shooting community can take advantage of that change, but it is like the Gluten Free craze, folks hear a phrase and go along with it
Just make sure that the pistol has grips that fill your hand nicely and all will be well
If you want a performance gain then save some money and buy one of the P229 Sport pistols that were produced by the SIG MasterShop in Germany. These are spectacular firearms
The MasterShop pistols are my favorite SIGs to shoot
