Sig P229 in 357 Sig

That's a good price. I bought a P229 DAK in .40 SW for a little less, but DAK actions are an acquired taste.

You can run 357 SIG through a .40 SW magazine, but not the other way around. Otherwise, all you need is a barrel change. I've used it, but 357 SIG is too rich for my pocketbook, and it's hard to reload and maintain the correct shoulder length.

A 229 the mags are exactly the same. A 229 you can also use the longer 226 mags in it, they will just stick out the bottom but again, the 40 and 357 use the exact same mags in 226 as well.

You are thinking of the single stack P239. That is the one that has 357 specific mags, no such animal on the double stack 229/226.

A friend and I bought a couple of LE trade in Sigs in 357 Sig in '06 or '07 and 4 boxes each of Winchester Ranger LE only ammo. Mine shoots like a laser beam! He was inspecting an old strip mine and there was a stack of "500 Barrel" oil tanks (like those by oil wells) waiting to be scraped. First he shoots one: Through and through! The second tank was close to another so he lined up a shot, through the first tank and into the second! That's three 3/16" steel walls separated by 15 and 3 feet, pretty good for a hollow point (Winchester called it a smart bullet, as it knows when to expand!) That performance is a lot better than 38 Super +P!

The Sig 229 is a very good pistol. $600 is a good price for both buyer and seller. I've got one in 40 that I bought a 357 barrel for. It's very accurate with both calibers, and 100% reliable.

Don't think the 357 Sig is loaded down much. I've chronographed Speer 125 Gr Gold Dots (our duty rounds) out of several barrel lengths. 1450 FPS out of a 5" Glock 35, 1420 out of a 4 1/4" S&W M&P, and 1375 out of a little Glock 33. Nothing to take lightly. I've seen first hand what the Speer round at 1450 FPS round will do, it is impressive.
