No, all the M17/18 models purchased by the DOD have a manual safety. The manual safety blocks the trigger movement.Good point. I think so.
So the discharge is directly related to the lack of the manual safety?
The M17/18 models manual safety doesn’t prevent the P320 style release of the striker. The P320 design has a fully-tensioned striker held by a single release sear, a more aggressive design decision than M&Ps and Glock models with a separate striker safety.
And the DOD had nine uncommanded discharge events of holstered M17/18 pistols through FY2022 IIRC. Those are variously well documented and in the open source.
