I have been hearing some good things about the Sig Sauer line of ammunition. I ordered in some of their Elite Performance 10mm AUTO Ammo 180 Grain V-Crown Jacketed Hollow Point ammo a couple weeks ago and got a chance to shoot some today. It would be an understatement to say that I was impressed. I didn't chronograph it but it felt pretty hot while shooting it and accuracy was outstanding. I have tweaked and played with different handloads out of this particular Ruger SR 1911 and it is very accurate with my loads using Gold Dot bullets and AA 9. Well, it kind of hurt my feelings when I shot tighter groups at both 20 yards and 40 yards with the Sig Sauer ammunition. I just ordered in a good supply from Target Sports.

The V-Crown bullet itself is kind of interesting. Sierre makes it and it supposedly has a stacked hollow point. A hollow point and a second hollow cavity beneath it??

Regardless... a very accurate load out of this particular pistol.

the only Sig ammo I have shot is the 45 acp hardball and I think that it is the best of that type I have shot. I used to think that Federal made the best until I shot the Sig ammo. Sig obviously spent some time loading this ammo as it is also the best looking ammo also.

Sig with the Sierra bullet does well in all the test that I have seen.

I bought tons of Sierra rifle and pistol bullets until about ten years ago when they got pretty expensive, per the other brands.
They kill deer just as good as the "Trophy", "Bonded" and "Tipped" high cost bullets that are pushed at the hunters of today.

Plus they work at lower fps, which means less recoil in their SD loads.

I had a chance to field test that Sig Sauer 10mm load this morning. Shot was about 40-45 yards, she ran/tumbled/stumbled about 30 yards and went down. Very impressed with the performance of that bullet. Went through both front shoulders and exited.

What's that that looks like a big cut on the lower side of the deer?

BTW, nice shooting! What bullet weight did you use?

Anyone know who's really loading this SIG ammo?

I have shot some of it out of my 10mms also.

I was pretty impressed with it as well. I have shifted over to it as my standby ammo in my bedside Delta.

Isn't a HP supposed to expand and cause massive internal damage.

Did the bullet perform as a HP or over penetrate?

Id say it performed exactly as it was supposed to. Massive damage inside the deer, and enough penetration to provide an exit wound. Only down side... I would have loved to have recovered that bullet!

I carry the 124 grain 9mm in my Hi Power. It is the most accurate stuff I've tried, and it shoots exactly to the sights in my gun.

I carry Sig 44 Spl. in my M69,4.25 in. bbl.I do not know how it expands, but it is accurate and moderate recoil.I also have some Sig 44 Mag. that I have not fired. I have read it is very good ammo(?) and it looks great.

I've shot some Sig 9mm V Crown 115 grain out of my P365 and while I did not Chronograph or Gel Bock test them, they did not seem any hotter than the Federal standard velocity 115 grain FMJ I was practicing with. I know that is not a very scientific test, but to me they did not seem as though they had any "gumption" to them. When I shot a few boxes of the Speer Gold Dot 124 grain +P's they felt like they had a bigger punch - again, this is not a scientific judgment, just a "gut call". I intend on doing some Chronograph testing of 9 mm rounds over the nest few months.

Since I did not test them scientifically, I can't say what I feel holds any water - but again it's just a "Gut Call". Accuracy was good and no failures of any kind.

My Sig Elite experience with a Sig 220-10 and a Kimber Camp Guard 10 echoes yours. It was more accurate at 10 and 20 meters than others I tried at the same time.

Off-hand shooting 357Sig, my accuracy doesn't vary much between premium ammos. However, from bench rest the Sig Elite will shoot tighter groups and to a more consistent point of aim. This past summer I was whining about Sig's "Combat Sight Picture" and handed my Sig 1911 Emperor Scorpion Carry/357Sig to an experienced IPSC shooter. From 15 meters, kneeling, he shot a one-hole group. *I* can't do that! But the Sig, with Sig ammo, can.

I've shot a couple of boxes of their 10mm 180 grain FMJ stuff. Box says it runs 1250 fps and I believe it. Pretty stout, definitely not FBI-lite loads. Feels like my handload of 13.8 grains of AA9 under a 180 grainer, which is said to run around 1275. Good stuff.

That's about the same load that I found to be very accurate out of my 10 mm.... I shoot 13.5 grains of AA9 and 180 grain Gold Dot.
