My friend has a S&W rifle. I think it says model A. I read these were made by Husqvarna.

I found a guy in Texas that had one. He is/was a little bitter because he was a Smith parts guy until he claims that they left him high and dry with all of the extra parts he couldn't get rid of. I would tell your friend to skip it. I got one from this guy and the hood wouldn't stay on. Unless he is going to weld it on it won't stay. I will try and find the guy's info but, it was several years ago and the guy was older than dirt back then.
It is a compression hood. Only thing holding it on are the grooves in the site and the metal of the hood pressing into the grooves.
I will check to see if I still have his info. It was 3-4 years ago and he was an old timer then.
