For a while now I have been looking to upgrade the sights on my m&p 45. Been looking at the trijicon night sights. Are they worth it? Main problem that I have with the stock sights are that they get so dirty, and seem to be next to impossible to clean. Are there any other sights besides trijicon that you guys would recommend, or are they my best bet?

Depends on what you want. A lot of guy use the Truglo TFOs, and Ameriglos. Ameriglo offers a wide variety of options with the Trijicon tritium inserts, and Truglo just came out with the TFX, which is an upgraded version of the TFOs. Worth it is your call, I think these are just a good at a lower price.

Hey swar45, if you have good eyes I agree with everything mustang man said. I don't, so today I had a set of XS Big Dot sights installed on my 40 Pro Series. It is my carry gun and I wanted quick sight alignment. From everything I had read they fit the bill!
I've had trijicons, xs big dots, and ameriglos, and I prefer the ameriglos by quite a bit.
Big dots were too much for me to get used to, trijicons were just standard 3 dot night sights. The ameriglos I picked up are 3 dot nights, rounded notch in back, with bright orange around front vial. It's pretty much the same sight as the trijicon hd's, but for a bit cheaper. Loving the setup.

About a year ago I installed a Trijicon Night Sight set on my M&P Shield and yes it was well worth it. Much easier sight acquisition in all lighting conditions. The only down side was removal of factory sights S&W does not want those babies to budge!
Don't ignore Meprolight. H&K seems to like them. Warren and Novak make great stuff, too.
You need to consider whether you will ever use the gun at night. If you will, tritium insert sights are the best option. I have used Ameriglo, Trijicon and Meprolight. I find little difference between the brands in the real world. The Ameriglo TFO/TFX gives the added option of a fiber insert that picks up daylight and seems to be better as an all-around sight for day and night. But as a hybrid, it gives up a bit of brightness at both ends of the light spectrum (bright daylight and strictly night).
If you are truly just a day shooter, its hard to beat simple fiber optics. They will pick up sunlight and they really jump out at you. Sight acquisition cannot be beaten. But they are useless at night. Truglo makes a pretty good fiber optic sight. Dawson Precision makes an excellent sight and is available in a bunch of different heights and widths -- at nearly double the price of Truglo.
At the lower end, Williams Firesights provide a bright sight picture at a very reasonable price -- but be aware that they are aluminum and will deform easily upon installation. They also preclude the use of a bue pen to touch them up. It won't work on aluminum.

I run Trijicon HDs on my G17. It is a good setup for quick acquisition of the front sight, but makes for a little more difficulty when trying to shoot accurately at targets.
I replaced the front sights on my M&Ps with TruGlow TFOs. I absolutely recommend this setup. Gives you the three dot still, and also brings your eye to the front sight very quickly.
