For awhile I've had an interest in getting a .40 S&W, and Monday got to shoot my first Sigma in 9mm and thought it was great, no troubles and plenty accurate.

Local shop has .40 & 9's on sale for $339.00 with a $50.00 or 2 magazine rebate.

Decent price? And should I got for the cash or magazines?

I just bought an SD40 for $1.00 more than the Sigma price you quote...Delivered. Off of Gunbroker.

Oh well...If you just absolutely, positively have to buy the inferior pistol for some strange reason...(Like making brownie points with the Sigma last gasp'ers on this forum)....Then Sigma's can be found at Bud's Guns for $299.00 delivered.

Jeeze guys...I could probably find the difference in SD and Sigma Price point by pulling the cushions off my living room couch. I simply do not understand why some here continue to push the Sigma.

Why don't you get an SD forum going so we don't have to see this broken record of a post again.Anyone that checks the Sigma forum on a regular basis knows how much you paid on GB,knows you hate Sigmas, know you can't believe a person would buy and shoot one. I think the BG380 is having a lot of problems ,why don't you go harass those guys for a while.

Wow! An SD40 owner! What an exclusive gun! It's good you have time to visit the Sigma forum and show us the error of our way.

The 'Ignore' button is your friend.

Thats a better price than I could get around here. Sure, you could pay less at Buds online but by the time you add in the transfer fee at your local FFL its a wash. If you want to get extra mags anyway, go for the mags instead of the $50 rebate. They sell for $35 each or so. If you don't need the extra mags, go for the $50 back. Up to you. Its a great gun, go for it!

Buying a gun online with free shipping usually works out, all my transfers have been $15 or 20 and you won't get hit with tax.

That said, I never found dealers who carried anything I ever wanted :D

+1 setxn!!!! That is getting old!!

What part of this question were you addressing?

Some would say a Kimber is a lot better gun.
Some would say a CZ is a lot better gun.
Some would say a Colt 1911 is a lot better gun.
Some would say a ????? is a lot better gun.
I could go on & on!!

The OP didn't ask about those guns!!
The Op didn't ask about the SD.

The SD is a great gun.
Some people don't want one & that is OK.

NOW--- back to Chris
If you live near a Academy they usually have one for around $300.
Depending on where you live & local prices, $39 may not be enough to split hairs over!
IMHO the Sigma 9 or 40 is worth $339!!

As far as the rebate, the mags run from $33 to $35 each.
The value would be with the mags over the $50.

Which ever you choose, don't get in a hurry.
It has been taking a while for them to come in.

Best of luck!
Let us know what you do!!

I think $339 is just fine. I paid $319 at Academy for my amazing sigma.

If $339 is the best deal in your town, I wouldn't hesitate for a second buying it. The sigma is awesome! The 2 free mags is just icing on a very sweet cake!

There will always, always be someone on the internet that can find a better price than you can. Always! Prices vary from town to town. I never let that bother me when I want something.

You said that you shot one and thought it was great; nothing more to be said.

Let us know if you get it.

Thanks folks, I'm not close enough to a big chain store that a $20.00 or $30.00 difference would pay, between driving there and going back 3 days latter after our waiting period, it would cost easier $40.00 or more in gas.

Exactly Bear Claw! Go get it man!

Also, the big chains like Academy, offer zero service after the sale. Most reputable "local shops" often do.

Don't forget to charge up the digital camera when you get your sigma!;) It's mandatory! LOL!

Academy is actually pretty good about stuff but seeing as how it's a Smith I'd just rely on Smith #1 cust service. I have all 3 S&W polymer guns. Sigma, Sd, and M&P. I still recommend the sigma to people. As a trainer I think it is top notch. However if you are planning on "modding" a sigma then that is when I say buy an SD. However when you just want a nightstand gun, glove box gun, carry gun, or anything other than a range queen get the Sigma and save your coin for ammo.

Bear Claw-I hope you got your 2 questions answered. Excuse my rant, but the rudeness displayed was totally unacceptable. There have several of these types on here in the past and I-and it seems a few others-have grown weary of haters.Your question could and should have been answered without any opinion on the Sigma,it's not what you asked. The 40VE at Bud's are$344,Allied Forces $378-the only one for $299 is the polished 9VE. Offer your shop $300 and see what happens, can't hurt. I took the $50 rebate as a defensive tool against the wife-came home with a gun again after going to get something else! I did it again a month or so ago-I can't help it. My buddy got the magazines and gave me one-very generous friend.Good luck with whatever you decide.

Sounds like you got it figured out Bear Claw.
Like SETXN said, see if your local shop will match the price.
But as I said before, I wouldn't have a problem paying $339 for my 9VE!

mylastrook, you need to start getting in bed a bit earlier.
School is about to start!
7th grade is hard enough with a good nights rest!

We must have sprung a leak! Post are disappearing right and left-could be a rift in the space/time continuum.

You should never pay more than $319.00 retail for Sigma. $299.00 is reasonable. $250.00 is great then the rebate. And S&W knows it. Thats not to say they are a worthless pistol. Not at all! But there resale is that of a Yugo.

With the initial price of a Sigma around the $300-320 mark (with four mags), who's really going to sell one? :D
