Sigma 9mm problem

I just purchase the SW9VE. I went out and shot 50 rounds today. I shot 15 rounds in one magazine and the gun worked like a charm. I then shot 15 more rounds in the "other extra" magazine, and had problems. The gun jammed 3 times total and when the magazine was emptied, the slide did not release back indicating that the mag was empty. I then shot 10 rounds in the first used magazine with no problem. I shot 10 more rounds in the "extra magazine". This time there were no jams, but the slide did not release indicating that the mag was empty. Do I have a problem with the spare magazine or a problem with the gun. In other words every time I emptied the spare mag, the slide never released back. Any advise would be appreciated. I used the Monarch 9mm brass 115 grain ammo.

Thank You for your input

Someone in an earlier post stated that this would not happen after a "break-in" period. After 200 rounds or so. Anyone ever heard of that?

I have never heard of breaking in a magazine! Your magazine is at fault and if u can replace it . When I get a new gun first thing I do is take a sharpie and mark one. Then I test them both with full mags I then try them with only 3 or so in the magazine. I alternate between the two before I am happy they both work. Marking it just makes it easier to tell them apart. get a replacment

I bought one Sigma that had a bad magazine, and S&W replaced it free. Call customer service.

That is how my 9mm acted. I don't know why but after 200-300 rounds my slide locked back after the last round.

Brand new gun!
I'd send it back to S&W with the defective(?) magazine and have them go over it.
The problem might not be the magazine, although the problem points to that. Could very well be something else needs to be tweaked in the pistol.

My slide failed to lock open a couple time. It also released a few times on it's own after inserting a mag. Pretty cool, I wish it always did that! After a couple hundred all was good. Marking the mags and keeping a record of any malfs is something we all should do.

My girlfriend has this problem about 1 out of five times. I never have had this happen to me. My observation would lead me to believe the gun is not fully recoiling during the expelling of the final round. Due to her weak wrist.

I'd agree with the previous posters that suggested
the trouble may be a weak magazine spring.
If you feel confident in taking the mags apart, you
can compare the tension of both springs and confirm
that's the problem.

Or just get a new mag from S&W.

I have a similiar problem with a Colt; bought a new
mag and it dosen't push the slide catch all the way
into the slot after the last shot. It works, just not
good enough for my tastes. I plan on replacing the
mag spring with a Wolff....
