Anyone ever have issues with mag drop on a Sigma? I first noticed it when shooting off a range bag, the butt of the gun resting on it. Then the other day while practicing strong hand only, dropped two outside the 'booth', (had to wait for the range to go cold to go out and pick 'em up). Pretty sure that was me 'thumbing' the release. This last weekend the mag came loose twice, couldn't really put a finger, (thumb), on why. I was watching to make sure I wasn't hitting the release, with two thumbs, the right thumb is on top, the left against the frame near the slide. Any ideas?

Yes, I tried to use my sigma as my carry gun, but, kept leaving my mags behind in the car and my recliner. S&W did not seem interested in fixing it. It has left my ownership.

Part of the reason i got rid of mine. That and they were 10+1 cap BrdyBan guns. Other than those things they were ok....
But I love my SD9VE!!!

Yes it does matter.
I know the 9F mags. won't seat properly in a 9ve guns, it has a thicker base plate.
Make sure your mag. release is good and clean maybe some oil.
See if you have some clearance between the mag. base plate and the grip or they won't seat fully.

I was checking all my magazines on my SD9VE-CA (I have 10 and 16 round versions), and did notice that brand new magazines were a bit slow to drop, caused partly by the pressure of the magazine safety lever. After a few insertions they all worked O.K.
I did have some concern about the gap between the magazine base plate and the grip, but the post above is correct, you will need some clearance for the release to properly seat.
Also, I did have to lube, lightly, some areas where the magazines rub.

I stripped it, looked at the release, put a mag or two in and out, every thing seems to work. I'd like the release to go a bit deeper into the mag...when I have some time, I'll look into removing the mag catch assy, (once I figure out how), see if there is anything there. It has never dropped a mag while carrying, sitting in a car, chair, only while shooting. I'm beginning to believe it's me, I must be hitting the mag release. Still, I'd be happy if the catch went a bit deeper into the mag.
It's possible to disassemble the catch assembly, but all the parts (except for the spring and the metal catch) are molded plastic and I don't see any way to modify them. I'm looking up into my SD9 but that area is identical to your SW. I strongly suggest you don't try to disassemble that area.
You can use a strong probe to lift the end or the long straight spring out of the catch assembly, but then what?
