My SW9VE is not working well with 115 gram Corbon +P ammo. I haven't fired this pistol yet, but it jams when racking from the magazine to the chamber. Is this a common problem? Is it the gun or the ammo?

1. Lock slide open
2. Insert loaded magazine
3. With trigger finger out of trigger guard, "slingshot" the slide by pulling back until the slide slips out of your hold and slams forward.
4. Shoot it.

Thanks for your replies. I went to the range today and after about 100 rounds the 115 gram ammo still jams but 135's worked well in both FMJ and hollow-point. Thanks again.

I'd be concerned with any rounds jamming in your 9VE. How is it "jamming"? Failure to feed, failure to eject, stove pipes, or doesn't go into battery?

The smaller rounds tend to jam against the bottom of the ramp. Twice while firing, the rounds failed to eject. Thanks

You have to make sure the magazine is well seated in the gun. I got into the habit of tapping the heel of the magazine with the palm of my hand before hitting the slide release. I primarily shoot Fiocchi 115gr FMJ's with no issues.

I had several people shoot my Sigma 9mm, different ammunition and tried both magazines, but it jams after 3 shots. Any ideas?

When you say it 'jams' we need to know more. Is the empty case not ejecting? Does it chamber a round, but not go into battery and not fire? Does it try to feed (2) rounds into (1) chamber?

This is sometimes a problem with either certain ammo or because of operator error (riding the slide instead of letting it slam forward at full speed).

Sometimes, loading one round down solves everything and then you remove the mag and replace the last round, and that works.

Sometimes changing ammo works.

Sometimes it requires a trip back to the factory, with digital photos of the pistol as it appears when "jammed."

I would agree with Shawn. Some S&W's can be touchy with ammo if the bullet is seated differently than most standard brands. I had an early model S&W99 that hated a certain brand of reloads because the bullet wasn't seated as deep as our standard duty ammo. We used the reload for qualifying, and Winchester Silvertips for duty. Your grip can also play a role in the functioning of the gun. If it ends up actually being the gun, call S&W and they will e-mail a shipping label and fix it. Don't lose faith. The SW9VE is a great gun. Mine has thousands of rounds with never a problem.

My Sigma 9ve had the dry heaves and hurls (failure to eject and wild ejections) with a box of Sellier and Bellot 9mm Luger 115 grain FMJ Range Safe Ammunition. It has digested everything else, but it won't get fed the S&B's again...

hey all,

i only put about 150 rounds through mine, yesterday. 115 grain and 147 grain. fiocchi and blazer. not a glitch at all.

fyi.

My Sigma jammed when the next round entered the chamber. I called S&W and explained my problem and they believed it was someting that has to be fixed at the factory. I sent it back and also noted a hard and rough pull. I'l let everyone know what they did when it is returned.

They should be able to repair it, and you will get it back soon. It will probably run better than ever, too.

Received repaired Sigma 9mm today

I opened up the box and it had a repair sheet enclosed. This is what was written, "The extractor was replaced and the barrel was modified." Hopefully, this cures my jamming problem. Now, I need to find some more ammunition!

Follow up: Shot two full magazines without any problems.

I had the same problem first time to the range with my SW9VE. 3 rounds then jam...sometimes only 1 round.
