Good morning.

What exactly is the difference between the Sigma and SD triggers? I have been using my 40E for a long time and I actually don't mind the trigger. Does the SD has a marked improvement here, or are the two just mostly different cosmetically?

Thanks

From the factory the Sigma trigger is about 12 lbs. and the SDVE trigger is about 8 lbs.

Thank you. I wish I had a trigger scale. I don't think mine is anywhere near 12lbs.

At one time I owned an SW40VE and an SW9VE. The 40 caliber was about 11.25 lbs. and the 9mm was exactly 12 lbs.
I shot the 40 caliber more.
They do look different cosmetically as well.

S&W lost their arse big-time in the lawsuit and had to pay Glock a royalty for every Sigma sold. I don't know if the lawsuit continued on into SD production but internally they remain very similar to a Glock. The recoil spring assembly still interchanges for example.

I Know the US gov dumped a bunch of Sigmas in Afghanistan for the ANA and ANP to use. Guns worked alright, but the magazines didn't hold up very well.
