A local shop has a Steyr s40 for sale at $350. The gun comes with one magazine- it fits my hand well and the grip angle on the Steyr and Sigma is pretty close, it seems to me

I have been researching the Steyr brand, and have come to believe that it is probably a well-made gun. The issue for me is that Steyr is, as I understand it, no longer importing handguns- So finding additional magazines, and repairs (if they would be necessary) could be complicated to impossible.

I have also been considering a Sigma-

My goal is to find a servicable, durable, .40 caliber pistol and these are both around the same price

What would you recommend?

Sigma. You can't beat S&W's customer service (well, at least i've had good luck) and their lifetime guantee. They guantee everything, even their handcuffs which I carry. I actually carry the .40 for my ccw as well as my duty weapon as a reserve officer. I trust my life with it.

Sigma all the way. My friend has one of thoughs steyrs and it jams if you put more than 50 rounds through it without cleaning it.

After further review from the instant replay officials; the call on the field, stands:

The Sigma!;)

Lee

Ones a gun thats no longer available and the others a gun that will very soon be...no longer available.

For $20.00 to $40.00 difference get the SD.

My friend has one of "THOSE" Steyrs..... Sorry! Just had to do it!

I owned a Steyr M9 A-1 and it was a GREAT shooting pistol. Accurate as hell and it never gave me one single problem.
I had to sell it due to other financial situations.
I have never owned a Sigma but I would recommend a Steyr to any one.
Maybe due to the fact that mags. and parts may be hard to get in the future, May I suggest the Sigma.

The Sigma is at best a Ford Fiesta.

If 63 Vette's are your thing I strongly suggest you look into a S&W 1911.

The Steyr is a great pistol, I had an M40-A1 that I let my brother talk me out of. It's my understanding that Steyr will be re-entering the US market with these guns, including a .45 version. The S series Steyrs are even more uncommon than the full sized M series.

The Steyr has a Glock like trigger, that has a better feel (to me) than the Glock. They also run a unique "trapezoidal" sight system. It looks odd at first but is very easy to shoot well. The grip on the Steyr fits me like a glove, if I wasn't so sold on the M&P series, I would be looking for another Steyr.

I have also owned a Sigma, briefly. Nuff said.

Extra Steyr magazines are available from CDNN.

They're a Ford Fiesta. They'll give you 40 mpg. and 200K miles. That's what I expect from my guns.

The Vettes gonna give you about 12 mpg, maybe similar life, but a lot more expense for the maintenance.

My "Fiesta" has well over 2000 reliable, failure free, economical rounds behind it. Couldn't ask for more.

All the Best,
D. White

Weird comparison. If you drive a fiesta like a vette it won't last a year. Regartless of the miles.

If you drive a Vette like a Fiesta then you will get 26ish mpg and will last you long time.

Nice try though/:p
