1st Sigma I ever purchased is a 9F. Trigger is better than the VE series, more accurate as well-maybe the slightly longer barrel. Paid $150 used for it. Still own it and a 40VE. I sold my 9VE because I got a good price for it. If I recall correctly, the 40F had an issue with fractures of the frame. I shoot with a guy who has had his since the old days with no issues. If you can get it on the cheap it's okay, I guess. I bought my 40VE used for $189 so I'd lower the price on a 40F accordingly.

I currently own a 40f and have numerus rounds through it with out any trouble. I reload for it as well and have had no problems running reloads either. I think its a real good shooter for the money. actually I cant believe how affordable they are. Seem to me to be quality ,after all they are S&W.bill

I have a 40v limited, same thing different finish. Had it 12 years and still love it. Depending on the price you get it for they are great.

As maligned as the F series Sigma is, I have to say that from my experience, the 9F is a better pistol than the 9VE. Nothing wrong at all with the 9VE, but the F series definitely has a better "Glock-like" trigger. Maybe, as some have speculated, the trigger (FCG) was thee issue with the Glock lawsuit. Don't know, but grouping and rapid fire accuracy is better with my 9F than either the 9VE I owned or the 40VE I still own. The F-series ain't pretty, that's for sure.

Carried the 40F on duty for several years. Never had a problem with it. I bought it when we switched to the M&P. Its now in my dresser protecting my family and home.

I have shot about 200 rounds through my 40 ve and my trigger has smoothed out nicely.I won't be doing any trigger jobs on it now. I like the way it fires and i shoot it as well as any glock i have fired.

Sigma 40F

I bought my 40F at a gun show in 2002, and I think it was from former PD stock. Anyway, after having put about 1000 rounds through it, the only problem I ever experienced was the recoil spring guide rod separated. Not sure why S&W constructed this in 2 pieces versus one solid rod. Anyway, I called S&W service to order the part and they actually sent it to me gratis. Now that is customer service, and that gesture made me a customer for life.
:)
When I bought a Beretta NEOS .22 and had FTF problems, it took them 5 weeks for them to get back to me, and never did resolve the issue, bye bye Beretta.

So my thoughts about getting a Glock 22...GONE. Instead I'll buy another 40F or VE and buy ammo with the change!
