I learned yesterday that the Santa Barbara sheriff has found it impossible to honor requests because "The deputy who handles that is on vacation and we don't know when he'll be back." One deputy for an entire county? Vacation with no backfill? Sounds like a lawsuit in the making.

Yeah, this is completely foul and he's not the only one to pull this.

On another note, Orange county recognized the coming increase and added 12 new employees and added $2M to the budget to cover the extra work. Good for them.

Vacation? BS! Vacation isn't like FMLA; if he's on vacation, they know exactly when he's due to return.
