Over the last few months I have read a few posts regarding weight their carry rigs, guns, etc. and since my wife was just baking and happened to have the digital scale out, I figured I'd weigh my EDC gear which I have never done before.
My empty Sig P365 with an empty 10 round magazine weighs 1 lb -1.8 oz OR 17.8 ounces. With a full load of 11 rounds (10 in mag, 1 in chamber) of 124 grain Federal HST's it weighs 1 lb.-7.5 oz OR 23.5 ounces (about the same as a 2" J frame revolver). My Kramer Horsehide OWB Scabbard empty weighs 2.7 ounces. The fully loaded pistol with 11 rounds and the Kramer holster weighs 1 lb. 10 ounces OR 26 ounces. My fully loaded 10 round magazine weighs 6.4 ounces and in the Kramer Horsehide belt pouch it weighs 7.2 ounces, so the pouch itself only weighs 0.8 ounces. My double thick Kramer Horsehide belt (for my 36" waist) weighs 8.5 ounces. NOTE: Pistol and magazines are fully loaded in these pictures for accurate weights.
So what is the total weight I am carrying? The P365 with the loaded mag. + 1 in the chamber in the holster, the spare loaded 10 round mag in the pouch and the belt to carry everything adds up to 41.7 ounces or 2 pounds, 6 ounces. That is less than some guns alone that people carry! I have 21 rounds on my person and with the double thick horsehide 1 1/4" belt it carry's like a dream - all day long if need be.
Other times I stick the P365 in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster and that weighs a scant 2.2 ounces empty. That comes to 25.7 ounces including 11 rounds onboard. I carry the spare mag in a different pocket and that weighs in at 6.4 ounces for a grand total of 32.1 ounces OR 2 lbs. in pocket carry mode with the same 21 rounds on me. I am unaware of a better carry package for size, weight, reliability, # rounds onboard and on my person, accuracy, ease of hitting a target and all day comfort. Let's not forget that the 124 grain federal HST is pretty much the top dog in 9mm defensive ammo these days and actually performs better than any .38 special round I am aware of, out of a 2" barrel, including Buffalo Bore. All this has led me to the decision to retire my larger, heavier, bulkier and harder shoot, 5 shot model 60-7 although I would still use it as a back up if my Sig ever went down and needed factory repair.
I did this basically to post here but will admit after reading multiple posts on the Forum, I was curious myself. Sorry for the "twisted" pictures - one day I will figure out how to remedy that too!
Hope some find this interesting.
