I may just do that....should protect finishes from any acidic board and also protect the cardboard from any oil from after I clean the guns.

This may double the cost of materials to about $0.10 per rack, though. So much for my free lunch.

Who uses "shellac" these days other than old world wood work restoration?

Here you go....

The box template with cuts for folds and slots for spacer (I made this box with 1 5/8" slots instead of 1.5" slots.

After I finished, I removed all tape, cut some additional pieces of cardboard to cover the back and sides and glued them to the back and sides. I then sprayed with polyurethane spray. After drying I sanded the interior sufaces with 1000 grit paper to get rid of rough surfaces. End result is a pretty sturdy little rack.

I started doing that with my cardboard boxes out in our unheated, unairconditioned shed. Holds papers, books, whatever. It has helped them last better in that environment.

Nice idea. I find it funny how we will have what 3-4k in the six guns, but we don't want to spend any money on a rack. Don't get me wrong I am not hating here because I do the exact same thing. I remember watching a guy burn 1k at the **** table in Vegas in about 15 minutes. His wife walks up with a shopping bag and as he walks away I hear him saying, what the he** are you wasting money on that for ? Funny stuff.
