Simply Rugged

I've worn the Sourdough holster for nearly a week now, under my jacket or fleece vest, when out of the house, on my daily ~ 3 mile walks, shopping, driving and on other errands. I find it quite comfortable, and very easy to reholster. No special manipulation required. Slides straight into place with a mild push.

I was a little concerned about the holster loops as they are only available on this model at 1.75" and my belts are all 1.5". Leahy states that with pancakes oversized belt loops make no difference as the belt pulls the holster in tightly, fixing it in place. I guess only thing I noticed as different from my normal 1.5" holster loops is that positioning it on the belt when new was easier. Feels nice and tight on the belt, as it should.

I'm 6'2", 230 lbs. Here's how it rides:

I remain pleased with it.

I'm a fan of simplyrugged. Their holsters have a fundamentally sound design, and really hold the sidearm securely under active field conditions.

When no one else had a leather holster for the Glock 40 Longslide, Rob did... His CUDA was just what I was looking for...

Have SR holsters for most of my SAs and DAs where they are mainly used as field/hunting holsters...

And that is the one nice thing about these holsters not being "boned" to hold one specific gun. One holster will hold a bunch of guns securely...

I just ordered a simple Silver Dollar Pancake for my 640-1 Pro in Oxblood. Anxiously awaiting its arrival……

Arrived a couple of days ago…15 days from order. Beautiful, heavy duty construction. Certainly should live up to its "rugged" imprimatur.

Just ordered a 120 Tom Three Persons for my 6" 27-2
Went with Basket Weave & Border Stamping in Ox Blood
I'll put up a thread on it when it gets here in probably a month or less - & that's such a good thing!
I've wanted to try other makers but, they are like 6 months minimum & to be quite honest, the quality of Simply Rugged is just impeccable anyways.

My 2 Sourdough holsters arrived a few days ago, approx 3 weeks from date of order.

I prefer the plain Jane holsters. 1st is for my 3 inch model 64. The second holster is for my Ruger 3 inch Wiley Clapp GP100.

Great quality and value, I now own 4 of them. Make that 5.

Oh yeah, the plain jane models look really good. Especially the Sourdough Pancake Holsters
I really like that black

Call me crazy but some of those holsters seem unnecessarily big and bulky. Beautiful leather work nonetheless

No, your right. To the eye, they do look big & bulky. I believe your probably talking about the Sourdough
They do cover all of the gun save the grip
But, you would be suprised at how well they wear. They really not as big and bulky as it looks - you would just have to get one to see I reckon.
I wear my Sourdough with a Chest Rig they make.it rides really well.

For my 627 snubby.

I had Rob line it so it started extra stiff. Nicely broken in, now.

The knot suits my Scots-Irish heritage, you know.

OP, your holster turned out very nice - great mix of beauty and utility. I only have one semi-fancy holster from El Paso Saddlery. Although I have a Python in it, it's for my 5" 629. I recently found it at a gun show. NIB for $20.

Yes, smooth cowhide lined.

I don't recall knowing the add-on amounts for either of the "options" (lined and carving).

Your best bet would be to call Simply Rugged and ask what their current up-charge for a smooth cowhide lined holster is.

Thanks Bob.
Only reason I asked is because wit the last holster, the only option for lining according to Rick, was pigskin or suede. I didn't want either of them.
Nice to know they do have smooth cowhide
I imagine that would be optimal for protecting the finish
