So it's been a while since I've actually changed anything on my 15-22, I have it pretty much where I want it. But I did decide to fabricate a simulated gas tube and I did this for a specific reason (not to look like it has a gas tube). Since I am running an M4 front end, without a gas tube there is nothing to "index" the pieces and lock them into place. The last time I was out shooting I loosened my front end and had to take a break to tighten everything back to where it should be.
With this addition, once the barrel nut is tightened and the tube is inserted through, the nut can not back off since it's locked in place by the tube. To fabricate the tube I took a piece of solid silver abs plastic that was 11/64ths in diameter and mocked it up by eye and using photos off the net. I made the bends by heating up the plastic and letting it droop to the desired angle. After I had the bends done I then worked on the length till I got it where it needs to be.
Here is the final product:
I actually angled the end of the tube slightly downward where it goes through the Delta Ring, because there is no material in the location where the gas tube would go on a real AR, on the 15-22 that area is hollow, so I drilled my hole below the hollow section.
