Single stack 9's

This is my Sig 220 single stack heel release 9mm, very early made in West Germany, jb code liberated during Operation Desert Storm.
Had Bruce Gray work her over and she is ever so sweet and very accurate.

This one has to be my favorite, have shot about 600 rounds through her and all I can say is WOW. Only owned her for a month but been in my hands every day either dry fire or shoot when the temp is over 0 f.

I was in W Germany in late 1970s.(US Army 3rd ID) I want one for nostalgia. I have a W German P06 from 1984 with police holster. But I really want the . german 220 But the Swiss one really takes the prize!! Also would like a P210 from back then.. but my bank account will never be large enough.

Not a 9mm but I've got a W. German 220 in .45.... at the risk of offending a few here.....it's my favorite "carry .45".......will do cloverleafs at 50'..... traded my last Colt 1911(a Combat Commander IIRC) for it in the later parts of the 80s.

If the ----- 4566 wasn't so heavy.....be hard pressed to make a decision.


For the longest time (pre 3913/14) I wanted a 225 but they were rare as hens teeth....... articles written .....but none in the LGSs of the 1980s.

Came across one in the mid 90s...... grabbed it up..... but by then ..... it was a lot bigger than the 3913/14s I was concealed carrying...... and I had the single stack Beretta 92 Type-Ms...... with a stash of holsters and extra magazines.......decided that the 225 filled a gap that no longer existed...at least for me............ don't recall what I traded it for; but I didn't lose any money on the deal.

I like my Sig P6 so much that I bought a 225 to go along with it. They both handle and shoot very well.

I'm a P6 fan also. Mine is the proverbial carried a lot, shot a little ex-police weapon. I swapped the P6 mainspring for a P225 mainspring. Much better DA trigger. I also picked up a W German police OWB holster.

While I didn't get a P225 to go along with my P6, I did get a P226 CPO. While the P226 is a little large for me it's a nice, accurate, soft shooting 9mm.

I have several single stack Sig's with a Sig P220, Sig P220 SAO carry, Sig P6, and a Sig P239 in 40 S&W and the only 9mm is the Sig P6. I do really like the P239 in 40 S&W and I have the 357 Sig barrel for it also. The Sig P239 would be my next choice as a carry pistol.

I don't have huge hands, so single stacks have always felt better than most doubles, except for the BHP. That is the auto that feels best in my hand. Period.

I've had a Llama 1911 in 9mm, and a Star BM. I liked both.

The only auto I carry regularly though, is not only my favorite single-stack, but also my favorite DA auto overall. This is a no-dash from 1968:

My XDS with 4" barrel and 8 or 9 round mag works well when I have big pockets. I often revert back to my P9 or PM9 for CC. I shoot them as well as any of my big double stacks (9 or 40). The XDS however won't eject light loads reliably so I carry +Ps.

I'm actually kinda conflicted on single stack 9s. On t he one hand I find the full size guns to be a waste in the sense that if you're carrying something that big you may as well take advantage of more ammo. And small ones I typically find too small of a grip. While, at the same time I own several full size single stack

I never could understand how women, and others with small hands, can handle a full size Glock service pistol.

My hands aren't particularly small, but I found I couldn't grasp a Model 21 (45 ACP) properly. Had to go back to a Glock 17, 9mm.

I have a couple, I like full-sized pistols. I've got a 39-2, a couple of Norinco T-54s (Tokarev) in 9mm, and a Star B Super. To me, the guns just feel very comfortable to shoot. All are very accurate too.
