Six Round Magazine for Shield

After several range sessions, I am liking the Shield 9mm more. I have come to the conclusion that the "seven round" flush fit magazine for the Shield is really only a six round magazine if you want the thing to be reliable. When I load the magazine to full capacity at 7 rounds, the magazine fit in the pistol is too tight, putting unnecessary stress on the pistol. Anyone out there experience the same thing?

I don't feel it would be unreliable as long as you add the recommended amount of ammo in magazine. When a magazine is new the spring is tight but will loosen in time.

Just because it is a bit difficult to insert a new, fully loaded magazine in the gun ( I assume with the slide forward) does not mean it is placing stress on the gun.
Just leave your magazine fully loaded for a while and it will be easier. I leave a couple loaded all the time - but I carry mine daily.

It must be a Shield 9 thing then, my Shield 40 works flawlessly and is completely reliable loaded 6+1 and 7+1.

I carry my Shield 9mm 7+1 daily. It has been 100% reliable.

It's reliable with 7+1... Has been for over two and a half years.
No undue stress. It will loosen up a bit with 'exercise'.
If you feel better only loading to 6+1, instead of 7+1 though, that's fine by me. :)

Maybe unreliable for you! Many load 7+1 without issue.

The tight fit behavior is common amongst other M&Ps particularly with 10 round mags. There's a zillion threads on how to ease them up a bit.

Don't worry about it being "tight". As long as you have the magazine fully seated it will function properly when fired. Yes it is hard to get the magazine fully seated, but it only requires extra pressure on the base plate until the catch clicks in and locks the mag in place. Most use the Shield 9mm as 7+1 or the larger capacity magazine 8+1, meaning the +1 is the loaded cartridge in the chamber and the magazine is fully loaded. The firing recoil will have no issue ejecting the spent round and loading the next round from the mag.

I've been carrying a Shield 9 with 7+1 for 2+ years with no problem. What kind of unreliability are you experiencing?
