Sks problem

I hope I put this in the right section. Ive got an Sks thats giving me a few problems. When I release the bolt forward, the hammer drops right behind it instead of staying in the cocked position. If I charge it and release it a little slower it does stay cocked. Is this a disconnector problem? Because the sear and all seem fine, I havent done anything to it. No trigger job or anything. I did replace the hammer spring with a murrays 31lb and it kept acting up so I put the original back on. Anyways, any ideas? Its very unsafe in its current condition

Ive got another sear and it does same thing. I'll try a new hammer next, just hammer tho or hammer and strut? Thanks

If you’re replacing parts make sure you use parts from the same country. There is some variation between Yugos, Norincos, Russians etc. Also, there is a guy in Texas, Tom Prince, who has a business that works on SKS triggers to make them safe and more two stage. His business uses a Finnish name: Kivaari. You might email him to see what he suggests. I sent my Yugo SKS trigger to Tom and he made it quite a bit better. It now has a decent military two stage trigger.

The other mod I made to my SKS was adding a firing pin spring so it wouldn’t slam fire when the bolt is released and goes into battery.

Sorry for such a late reply. It took me awhile to find the correct hammer/ strut, some places were selling some only for yugos? I know some parts interchange but anyways I eventualy found what I needed. Also been very busy at work as well, **** never ends. I havent got to try it out at the range yet but ive dry fired it a few times and ran a few empty cases thru just to make sure. It works though, it holds the bolt back now and even if I hand cycle the bolt it still works. Thank you all for the help, I greatly appreciate it. My wife will be thrilled, she loves the dang rifle more than I do

You could be right, I did throw another sear in with the new hammer. I found a guy selling them for less than $10 so I figured id try one. Put it in same time as new hammer so i just figured that was what fixed it. So your trlling me that the $10 sear was my issue? Dang lol
