Sleeping with a pistol in your pocket

No. And i dont think in pocket or on coffee table right next to the couch would make a difference. I had a bunch of guns and rifles set up around the house but i slept as i always do, in my bed

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina I slept with my 870 in my arms on what was left of our front porch. Don't know if it was absolutely necessary but it sure was comforting.

May have slept a time or two with a M66 in my holster on a slow night shift, No, wait, I never did that....

For two weeks after the November 10th, 2002 tornado in the Mossy Grove and Petros area of TN, I slept with my 686 in a duty rig and a model 60 on my ankle (I slept in a recliner in my living room). Immediately after the tornado we had people coming out of the woods trying to pilfer anything valuable in the damaged houses in our area. I lost a really nice Winchester 30-30 that I had loaned my nearest neighbor who had coyotes eating his chickens. His house was leveled in the tornado and the Winchester was never located. Theives managaed to find his checkbook and attempted to write checks on his account for several weeks.

Here in NJ, someone who did not already have a firearm owners identification card would not be able to legally obtain even a long gun.

It can take months to get a card.

Katrina should have told us everything we need to know about ensuring we can provide for our own self-defense.

I always sleep with one, a 3" M686+, under the pillow next to me.

+1except I keep mine at the head of my bed muzzle down in a soft case sandwiched between the wall and the mattress with the grip of the gun just inches from my reach.

I regularly fall asleep in my recliner in front of the TV, with one of my handguns laying on my chest. I guess that counts as sleeping with a gun...just not in my pocket.

I prefer to sleep with the pistol attached to the bed. The holster has an arm that goes between the mattress and box spring with Velcro to hold it in place. It's very comforting to roll over and feel the grip of my favorite 45 in my hand.

I actually have two of these: one has a steel arm for between the mattress and box spring, the other has a flexible, nylon arm which is easier to pack. That's the one that goes into my suitcase when I travel. I'm surprised some holster maker doesn't offer a version in nice leather instead of nylon.

The pistol is a Colt Series 70, 45 ACP with night sights and a beavertail grip safety so I don't bleed all over the gun from hammer bite. I've just started using the Wilson 10 round mag: it would be awkward for carry, but for a fixed installation I sure prefer 11 rounds to 8. I gave it a good workout with Federal 230 gr HPs before I started using it.

Spent the better part of a year once sleeping with an M16 between my legs.
Have no problem sleeping clothed with a pocket pistol nor having one and a surefire under my pillows.
Not paranoid, just prepared. Sweet Dreams!

Mine is right next to the bed in an old gym bag, so I have to really wake up and reach for it. I'm not comfortable having it under the pillow. The Surefire flashlight is always close at hand, too.

I take naps with my 340PD in my pocket all the time.
Of course I am getting old and naps can happen at the drop of a hat.

Ooohh. That kinda humpback. I thought he was talkin' 'bout a whale.

I did wonder how he got it in his pocket, but folks is wearin' awful baggy pants, nowadays.

"Is that a whale in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me?"

I've never slept with a gun in my pocket, but depending on the circumstances I wouldn't rule it out. If I had to, I'd probably put my 642 in it's Mika pocket holster.

I don't think I've actually slept with a firearm in my pocket, However I know I've dozed off in church a few times while armed, does that count?

For the past couple years I've slept with my Bodyguard 380 in a holster in my front pocket on many occasions when I doze off in my recliner at home or even in my chair at work during my break. Never had a problem.

I started sleeping with a pistol in my pocket when I was a teenager, now that I'm a Grandpa I sleep with a waterhose........
