That's the going rate now.

You may find a used one for a bit less, but if it fit's an AR now people will likely want what you can buy a new one for.

I have a couple of them and they work. You'll be able to empty your magazines and wallet quicker than you ever imagined!

Ya that's about right. I picked mine up at that a little over a year ago. Another thing to look at is which version is it? Wouldn't matter much on the .223, but if you wanted to put one on the 15-22 you need the v2 or be handy with a dremel. Either way I'd grab it at that price. Our local craigslist-type online site has people selling them for up around $600, AND PEOPLE ARE BUYING THEM!

You should also know that they are hand-specific (left-right) as well as rifle specific. I have a lefty AK version. Hard to believe it costs over $300, but it does work. I bought mine used FTF at discount using the "Wal*Mart Parking Lot Loophole".

Would you really need that "Wallyworld loophole" as they're not even registered in the first place? Lol

SlideFires were a lot of fun until the price of ammo skyrocketed. Still fun on a 15/22 but not nearly as much as on a 15. :)

You see them for SLIGHTLY less on eBay once in a while if they are auctions, end late, or generally slip past everybody. Cheapest I've ever seen on close was about $225 and it was the v.1 design.

are these things reliable and safe for the riffle? anyone every report damage to the riffle from it?

I've got a few thousand rounds through the 15-22 and just under a thousand in the Sport and haven't had an issue yet. I am going to check the barrel nut on my 15-22 when I get home after reading one if the threads earlier today, but it does still shoot the same groups I was getting before. Not like they were great groups, but they're consistent lol. I inspect everything as I clean it each time and haven't noticed anything unusual. It will obviously wear faster than without it, but you are going through more rounds so it kind of evens out. In the .223 the biggest factor, I believe anyway, is the barrel heat. I don't dump more than two mags at a time, and seldom at that, just because I don't want to get my barrel any hotter.

When I had an M4, 3-round burst was the way to go. Full-auto (or in this case, a facsimile thereof) is greatly overrated.

Have fun, though!

Why waltz when you can rock n' roll?? The beauty of the slide fire is you can have as many rounds burst as you want! And, take it from me, 3 round burst is HIGHLY overrated. And, lest we forget, this can all be done at a fraction of the cost of a NFA registered M16.;)

I bought mine off Armslist.com for 300 total.

360 seems a little high..I believe Sportsmansguide has them cheaper?

I ran one on a base model DPMS smooth side for several rounds without issue.

Seeing how well this little carbine streamed the empties into neat piles gave me a new respect for these lower cost offerings.

As for damage, heat is the enemy. Repeatedly running long strings ain't conducive to a long healthy barrel life.

The units are easily controlled though. Once you shoot a few and get the feel you can actually do what want with it. A couple of quick rounds or a full mag dump at will.

I also have one of the AK type. They work as advertised.
