Slide Fire up and running!

I wanted to share my experience of getting the 15-22 running with a Slide Fire. Even after seeing videos of it working, I found a lot of conflicting info on the net, so hopefully my experience will help others.

I did not even bother to try it stock. I bought a CMC 3.5 Flat Trigger and installed that with the KNC anti-slip pins. This was a fairly straight forward install. The trigger drops in and for how to install the pins, there is a great how-to video on the manufacture site.

Next, I installed the stock, which is a little different than a standard AR15, but very similar and sprayed some Rem-oil on the buffer tube. I am not really sure the lube is necessary, but I figure its a good precaution.

I was immediately able to get bursts with standard Winchester lead tip ammo, but it ran a little better with high-velocity American Eagle. Still, it was frustrating I could not do a mag dump.

Next, I attached a forward grip. This really, really helped. I could do mag dumps no problem. Sense the install I have probably put 40 magazines through the gun - not a problem at all. Just dumped them all, with the occasional hick-up that was most likly ammo related. I have used all different types of ammo and it all works just fine.

Now, I did let a friend try. She is new to gun and not familiar with rifles. I should stress that I am familiar with Slide Fires and have shot probably a couple thousand rounds through AR15s and AK47s. My friend simply could not shoot more than a couple bursts.

I'm going to try the Slide Fire muzzle brake in the next week or two. This should hopefully make it easier for friends. But I can say with the couple mods and a little practice anyone can do full mag dumps - no problem.

Lastly, I just want to stress how damn fun this thing is. I loved my 15-22, but now it the gun will have to be pulled out of my cold, dead hands, before I give it up. Being able to do mag dumps is a great head turner and a ton of fun. The AK47 and even the AR15s take a bit of effort to keep on target. With this you can shoot hit your shot every time and it does not beat you up. Without a doubt my favorite gun. Ill probably have to buy a second one now, so this one can be dedicated for bump firing

I know it is a bit hard to believe and there is a lot of mixed information out there about getting the Slide Fire to work, but I can say this setup works well

Nice read. Thanks for sharing. I bought an M&P 15-22, with intentions on adding a Slide Fire. Was going to do it before someone stole my darn rifle, after I only got to shoot it once. I went light however, b/c the person with the sticky fingers, is my wife lol.

I too recently bought the slidefire last weekend, but i have my stock trigger and only jp springs. I didnt get a single rapid fire out of it. Question though...Do you have the standard iron sights on it or do you have other optics like a red dot. I have a red dot and magnifier on mines with a forward grip and tact light. I order the curved CMC trigger and it should be here by friday for me to see if it works just like yours this weekend.

Many people find it easier to use without the front grip (grb the mag well) but hey it sounds like it works well for you.

Once you get the touch down it is sure fun.

I have two 15-22's and one is dedicated to rapid fire only.

Now pick up some black dog 50rnd drums and the fun really begins

You might have too much weight on that baby. Too much weight will dampen the recoil and inhibit bump firing with a .22

When you get the new trigger installed, try stripping off the light and red dot.

I am using the stock iron sights. Other than the mods I listed, the only modification is some ladder-type, rail covers.

I was able to get similar results using the mag well, as the vertical grip. The vertical grip is just a lot more comfortable for me. Oh yea, I also have a couple drums waiting around to be tried out

I should also note two other problems I ran into:

1. I found the gun could get about 350 rounds through it reliably. After that it seemed to be a little too dirty to consistently bump fire.

2. Using lead-tip ammo, produced consistent leading in the barrel. Jacked, hallow point ammo, avoided this problem.

Either way you want to make sure to scrub the gun between sessions.

My findings. CCI ammo and your gun will run great. I can dump a black dog drum now prettyeasy. My 9 yr old son has almost got the hang of it.

I bought the recoil enhancer from slide fire. It might help a little. You can def tell a difference in recoil.

I also have a jard trigger adjustable. Problem with it is I keep having to adjust it. The screws keep backing out. I would probably go with a drop in model if I had to do it again.

My son can pull the trigger on the jard in regular semi auto mode and have probably 5 ftf in 25 shots. I never have a ftf. This problem I can't figure out.

Great Job Guys... I love My SlideFire as well... STUPID FUN for sure

Now i have a reflex site and 45deg offset sights on Mine, and an Angled foregrip.... and Timny Trigger... and Slidefire Enhancer Muzzle break,,,,dump mags all day

Now I have found that Blazers and CCI 40gr rounds do dump easier... federal Bulk works well but I do get more Ejection issues with them...

Technique is key, once you have all the needed components correct, then you can dump and dump and dump away

Have beginers try holding the magwell... thats the easiest to learn with.... then move to ForeGrip

I may get another 15-22 just for Standard Drill and plinker... then i can keep The slidfire on Permanently..... Just took it off for Next mondays range trip for drills and Timer testing...
