Hello everyone! I'm having an issue reassembling my m&P shield 9;
When I put everything back together after greasing it, the recoil spring ends up shooting out in front of gun. I'm unable to lock the slide back now and can't seem to get dissemble it again. I tried pulling back to my fingers hurt, tried a magazine inserted, still wont lock. Thanks for the help!!!

I don't know .......

If you have done this but I just googled your gun and there are a few utube features on it, I can't help you but these might, good luck.

Recoil spring on Shield

I would suggest that you take the gun appart and reassemble it to see if that makes a difference. Read the papers that came with the gun and be sure that you put it together exactly as they suggest.

thats the part I am having trouble with. I cant even dissassemble it because the recoil spring is pushing out the front making the slide not able lock into place to pull the yellow/green rod down

Welcome and sorry for your troubles. When I (often) have reached the limits of my mechanical knowledge, I seek out those who know more than I do, so a trip back to the shop from which you bought it, a range or the local gunsmith may be in order, presuming it is not loaded. Sometimes they even teach me how not to do something again. :)

Please let us know how things turn out.

Is it sticking out at an angle?

You likely didn't have the recoil spring assembly (RSA) located properly and it hung up on the locking block. Use a glove or a small towel (so you don't pinch your fingers) and grab the end of the RSA and push it until it points straight (more or less). You can also try rotating it. It should snap back into position.

The yellow/green sear deactivation rod should be down before you put the slide on.
