I got 2K of CCI Small Pistol primers from Cabelas today. Large Pistol & rifle primers still on B/O. Only waited 4 months.

I ordered some because i couldn't find any locally, but paying $11.00 in shipping and then another $20.00 for hazardous fee is almost rediculous. For $30.00 I could have gotten another 1,000 primers. Oh well, you gotta get them when/where you can. At least they are not over charging for the primers like some places.

I've been watching Powder Valley for awhile, and they recently listed that they had Winchester Large Pistol primers "out of stock," i.e., on backorder. For awhile (a LONG while), they weren't listed on the website at all.

Anyway, ordered 5K 8/10, thinking I'd wait a few weeks or months.

They shipped 8/11 and are supposed to arrive 8/13 - and at 24.oo/K!!!

I think things are finally loosening up some.

Large pistol primers have been available at the local gun shop for a month or two, luckily I picked 1K up before they began limiting quantities. The last few times I stopped in they also had small pistol although quantities are now limited to 300...

I just picked up 1 K each small and large primers in Challis Id. They have 25 K small primers and 12 K large primers left @ 31.00 per K. I asked if they had a hazmat license so they could ship but they didn't. I now have 4 K of each so that should do me awhile.

Just wanted to give a heads up in case someone in the area needed primers.

Federal Primers

What are companies saying about Federal Small Pistol Primers?

I prefer these on my competition revolver reloads due to lighter actions.

I have never had an issue with hard CCI in semi's, so I am not really concerned with what I buy in large pistol.

Just wondering as I need to stock up for shooting season next year and need to order but I keep buying guns which affects cash flow.

Another question-
I have never mail ordered powder and primers (always bought locally)- but since I am going to buy bulk (a couple of 4 pounders) and 5K in both small and large pistol...

can both be shipped in the same box paying only one haz mat fee??

thanks in advance

Some companies will ship both powders and primers in the same box and some will not. You'll need to ask.

Cabelas charges one $20.00 haz mat fee per order, no matter how many boxes they ship it in.
