Today my wife and I notice after her shooting her SDVE, the brass was having smile on bottom of brass..

Does anyone heard regarding having unsupported barrels or chambers on SDVE, but do not know exactly what this means.

Can some one explain this and why it matters?.., Do I need to send back to Smith and Wesson regarding malfunction?

Is yours a .40 or 9mm? Unsupported chambers mean that a portion of the case forward of the case extraction groove hangs over the feed ramp of the barrel and is not fully supported by the chamber. The case brass starts to thin there (forward of the base and extraction groove) so when the round is fired there is expansion at the point where the case was not supported. It's nothing to worry about unless it's severe (a really pronounced bulge) or you reload. If you reload just watch that area of your cases for cracks and don't use maximum loads on cases that have been fired a lot. On my 9mm's only a very tiny part of the case is unsupported. I don't get any "smiles" on the brass.

Thank you for information and sorry for leak details the pistol is SD40 VE California Compliance version.

I get them on my SD40VE as well. The smiles on the brass are not severe and from what I have learned typical for.40 caliber. A lot of Glocks show this and it is said to insure reliabillity by removing a very small amount from the feed ramp and the bottom of the chamber. I see the same thing in the chamber of my SD40VE where that same adjustment is made on my barrel.
As said above, a little is not bad but watch your reloads.

My SD40VE does the same thing. Caught me off guard since I've never seen this in my 9s. The 180 grain stuff seemed to bulge pretty good. I ran some Hornady Custom 180 grain and it looked liked a catfish belly. Scared the **** out of me it looked like every round was ready to blow out. I found that when I ran 165 grain anything it bulged very little. It was almost hard to notice. Just for my piece of mind I run 165 grain only. They say it's normal but I still don't like seeing the case swell out so dramatically.
