Smith 3000?

Im sure someone can answer for sure ...and I guess I should ..I have 6 of them 2 short barrel 3000 pumps wood stocks, two police models with folding stocks and 2 long versions.
They are great shot guns and are as good TO ME as any 870s...used to be able to get these cheap( I paid HALF what 870s were going for).
Nowadays I'd take a 3000 as they look and function well over the 870 Express finish.

I have used the 3000 pump and the 1000 auto. They are long gone in trades but sometimes I wish I had them back. Both were good guns with no issues.

I have a blued, 18 inch 3000 with a 2 round mag extension in my car every night as my duty shotgun. It has always performed flawlessly. The 3000s were made in japan for Smith...I remember hearing that they were just a tad larger than the 870 due to all measurements being made in the metric.

After S&W stopped importing them Mossberg imported them from the same maker. The only difference was the Mossberg name. I put 4000 rounds through a 3000 on the trap range. There was no wear evident except for a few square millimeters of bluing on the action bars.

I had a 3000 when they first came out and got rid of it because of poor dealer and S&W service and the complete lack of replacement barrels. They are NOT a copy of an 870 so forget about parts swapping.

Yes, I heard the Mossberg story too but even they don't seem to have any barrels and for years I couldn't find one (when I complained of it shooting low, S&W just bent the barrel up. It looked like a ski jump).

I would have to real cheap, in excellent condition and exactly the configuration I wanted in order for me to buy one. Other wise I'd look elsewhere...
