All this talk of 469's, 6904's, 6906's, etc made me do it....
I went and got the 469 at my buddy's pawn shop.
It only cost me $300 and I got 2 spare mags for $50 more. :D
It's in good condition, some holster wear and it sports the Pachmayr grips. It's purdy.

I sold my first one to buy my G17 duty gun when I became a cop and financially challenged.
It's nice to have an old friend back in my handgun stable. :D

The serial number is TAC19xx.... what year would that make its birth date?

I think I paid the same for mine earlier this year at the Birch Run (Frankenmuth) MI gun show late last year. It came in a plastic box (not original) and had 1 S&W and 1 Ramline magazine.

Yup, mine looks just like that, except it has the plain aluminum colored frame, like a 669 would have had.
1984, thanks. :)

Looks vaguely familiar.

because the seller is one of those people who think it enhances the looks and value of gun by highlighting the numbers and letters with a contrasting colored media. If I had a hard plstic tool (something that won't scratch) I would probably remove it...
